Used the CAMRA Good Beer Guide to seek this pub out for a lunchtime break en route to North Wales, and expectations were exceeded. Excellent beers, wide choice of well cooked and presented food and a friendly welcome. Very convenient when travelling West on A56. Free parking near railway station behind pub. Would give 5 stars but the gents could do with a tidy up.

Been eating here once or twice a week for almost two years. Never once had a bad or sub-standard meal. None of that microwaved stuff that you get in the "chain" pubs. A massive congratulations to Karen and her team and a special thanks to the chefs (including one that's recently left) for the best belly pork ever.

Nice choice of ciders and real ales. Small but cosy little pub. With a nice atmosphere.

A couple of negative comments on here need addressing: 1. It does get busy downstairs, if you want to eat and there’s no room to sit downstairs - go upstairs! 2. Free WiFi has always been available. I’m a regular customer - the Helter Skelter does a fantastic range of drinks which is unrivalled anywhere within 15 miles and the food is consistently good. Friendly atmosphere and staff.

Visited the Helter Skelter 23rd November 2017 .Super range of beers and the food was great. The barman was pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for him. All in all a lovely pub with good staff and food. Will definitely be going back.
