I went to NYC last year and I went through terminal 2, that terminal is so massive and so spacious. It felt so jarring because you wouldn't think you were in the busiest airport in the UK. I flew back into Heathrow from Krakow a month ago and I went through terminal 3 and it's so dark and dingy. Basically, Heathrow is gonna win if all the terminals are like terminal 2 or terminal 5 x
Terminal 2 “Contingency child lane” on July 17, 2024 was an absolute disaster. Workers in yellow vests could care less and were not helpful at all. You can do MUCH better London Heathrow
One of the largest airports in Europe and has a massive footfalls as well. There have been times when the security checks and baggage collections has been quite slow due to shortage of staff but recently it seems to have improved. There are lots of shopping options inside the terminal, before and after security check. They are quite strict about their no liquid policy and also for electronics you need to remove your laptop and tablets from the bags and keep them in separate trays. They also have free WiFi at the terminal and surprisingly it works quite well with decent speed. Overall its one of the better airports that I have been to.
Not disabled-friendly at all unless maybe if you are in a wheelchair! Nowhere near enough seating in Departures and the Disabled Toilets are only accessible with a key that just some of the staff have access to. You cannot unlock them with a Radar Key. No one was around to unlock them, so was forced to use the Ladies Toilets and this was quite a walk away. Overall, very surprised and disappointed. Will definitely avoid using these terminals in future where possible!
Plenty of seats bag check is quick and easy always use this airport when I am travelling
