Hawksmoor

About

Hawksmoor Borough opened in early 2017.

Story

Hawksmoor Borough benefits from the best produce available and the close proximity to suppliers based in Borough Market, as well as our usual focus on great steak, great wine and great cocktails. Our chefs walk round one of the best produce markets in the country and create regularly changing seasonal specials that aren’t available at any other Hawksmoor restaurant.

Aside from its fantastic location, the building itself has a story to tell. The site lies within the grounds of the medieval Winchester Palace, built in the 12th century by the Bishop of Winchester, Henry Blois (who some say chose is said to have chosen the location because of its adjoining brothels). The building was originally built as a hops warehouse in the mid-19th Century by hop merchants Wood, Field & Hanbury, before being taken over in 1933 by Borough Market ‘colonial and foreign fruit’ merchant J O Sims, whereupon it became a fruit warehouse and auction hall.

The menu features our signature native-breed steaks and much-loved seasonal and ethically sourced dishes. We’ll have £5 corkage on Mondays, and on Sundays there are the Roasts that Observer Food Monthly named as one of the best Sunday lunches in the UK. Our Express Menu (£25 for 2 courses, £28 for 3) is available from 12pm until 6.30pm and after 10pm every Monday to Saturday.

Finally, our 14-cover Cook’s Room has its own private kitchen and, when not being used by our chefs creating new dishes, is available for feasting menus, private hire and the occasional special ticketed event!

This dinner at Hawksmoor might be the best part of my time in London. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of the city, but this steak really turned things around for me. We started with the bone marrow, and wow, it was super rich and fatty! I had the strip steak, and my husband got the ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly. We also ordered mac and cheese and creamed spinach on the side, which were great accompaniments. For dessert, we went for the sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream, and it was pure heaven—definitely the highlight of the meal! The service was excellent too, really attentive. Overall, I’m glad I got to try Hawksmoor; it made my London trip a bit more enjoyable!
Been there twice, had the rib-eye and the fillet, my friend had the fillet twice, the second time was better than the first time.. is it the best steak I ever had, not exactly, but it is very good still and I would recommend it. The cream spinach and the baked sweet potato are strongly recommended too. The star of the show is by far the sticky toffee pudding, it's wow-ing in that place, you should definitely try it. The service is a bit slow sometimes, we had to wait for about 50 min before we got our food.
The star of the show, of course, is the beef. Whether you prefer rare, medium-rare, or well-done, Hawksmoor consistently delivers a masterpiece. Personally, I always choose medium-rare and the flavours you get are beautiful. To complement the exceptional food, their wine list is equally impressive. With a carefully curated selection of both old and new world wines, there's something to suit every palate. Their knowledgeable sommeliers are always on hand to offer expert recommendations and ensure you pair your wine perfectly with your meal.
I would like to express my gratitude to Angie for the exceptional customer service. You truly made our first experience here special. We look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you kindly." Angie you deserve a raise! We will see you soon, again thank you kindly. Kind regards KB
Non alcoholic moctails were terrible. Scallops were good. Steaks were okay, over cooked. My favourite thing was the chips, best chips I’ve ever had. I’d probably skip the bone marrow next time wasn’t flavourful and added nothing to the meal.Food: 3/5
Marvelous starter, stake, and side dishes in a fine dining restaurant. We have ordered scallops, 950g prime rib, beef dipping chips, macaroni, creamed spinach, hawkmoore Caesar side, add marrow, peppercorn sauce, and bone marrow gravy with Pulenta Hawkmoor. All are so delightful and tasty. This was a good meal indeed.Food: 5/5
The beef? Phenomenal. Desserts? Creative. All in all delicious. However, it is rather pricey especially for certain cuts so, if you’re there for the steak, maybe save it for a special occasion. Excellent place and conveniently located.
Food was good and portions very generous. This is now the third Hawksmoor i tried. I was, however, very disappointed that in spite of me noting it was a birthday celebration for my husband, they never brought him a sweet treat and candle to wish him hapy bday.At least three other tables had that.
We had a really good time. The sirloin steak was amazing! We had the potted pork as starter and I have never had such a treat as starter. Truly delicious!Food: 5/5
Quality food and service. The steak sirloin 400g is excellent and cooked to perfection. I wouldn't expect anything less being a steakhouse! The seafood entrees were also delicious. We got the scallops and Devon crab on toast pictured. Thank you for the complimentary treat that night.Food: 5/5
