We have used Hawes & Co to sell each of our homes and they have sold properties for other family members over the last few years. Each time they have been very helpful, advising on current market conditions and approaches to ensure a good sale and then doing all they could to encourage a prompt and successful purchase. Most recently, we not only sold but also bought through them, all of which proved to be a very well managed experience, especially given the specific complexities involved. On top of that our new house needed substantial work and they provided names of alternative local architects and contractors plus a contact about arranging a bridging load while the work was being done. We could not recommend them more highly

We used Hawes & Co when renting our flat in Wimbledon and we were not happy with the service. The agency fee was the highest we have ever had to pay in London over the last 10 years and it was absolutely not worth it. Whenever we contacted them about issues such as extending the contract, the check out date or anything else that required an action from them reply was along the line "we contacted the landlord and there was no reply, you may want to get in touch with him yourselves". We could have waited for weeks and nothing was done until we managed to contact the landlord and ask him to email them himself. Also at the end of tenancy they deducted the check out fee from our deposit without informing us about this, and without an invoice, which is actually illegal. Avoid if you can.
