Its a nice enough country pub, we came one evening, were the only people at the bar and the girl was more interested in going home than serving us, rude. We also had a meal here, price doesn't reflect the quality, it was as good as any decent pub, but our side of chips was brought to our table when we were half way through our main. The general experience was average so 3 stars is appropriate.
Visited the Hatch with friends. A lovely atmospheric place. The welcome was friendly and the staff were very helpful. We all ate different items from the menu and the food was delicious as usual. We have been many times before. Looking forward to going back soon
Nice food but really long waiting time, and finally when you get food, they make you feel rushed to finish food faster.
Dog friendly. Outdoor Gin Bar with heaters. Parking is an issue. However, the food, drinks and staff are lovely and it is a very characterful historic pub.
We loved it we got there just as theybhad stopped taking orders for food but they fit us in all the same. We had a great time and the food was delicious.

Such a nice place! Beautiful cottage and they are taking the new measurements serious which is great! If your in the neighborhood would definitely recommend going. Take a good appetite with you becuase they have big portions!

Very cosy pub. We had lunch following a walk in Ashdown Forest. Fishcakes were a bit potato heavy and lacked oomph which is why only 4 stars. Red mullet was lovely and service was great.
The thing about the Hatch is that it's a beautiful place to spend a lazy weekend day, no matter what. Generally, it struggles with the unsustainable popularity:capacity ratio with which it's cursed by its idyllic setting don't be surprised if you're turned away for food because you haven't booked, or if you have booked but you still end up waiting an age for service, but why not take the risk? It's lovely.
