Gorgeous pub! Better still, wonderful landlord/chef who kindly personally collected us from a broken down car situation after I called the pub due to no taxis in service. Fab food and cheery staff. Good sized tables, lovely fire, characterful bar.
An outstanding country pub that takes pub grub to the next level. If you dine there the steak pie is epic but the partridge is out of this world! So many old country pubs try to become gastro pubs and the result is often tragic. However the very young chef at The Anchor is producing fantastic food from locally shot game. Will be heading back there soon!
This is the best Pub lunch I've EVER had!!! not only me but everyone in my group of 6 said the same! exceptional! great atmosphere, gorgeous place and very good bar staff - we'll be back!
We hired The Anchor Inn as a location base for some filming and I cannot recommend them enough. Jonny and the whole team were so helpful and accommodating to all of our requests. All the staff were really friendly, the place its self was lovely and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back if we can! Thank youRooms: 5/5
A nice pub in a decent village in East Sussex. Food was respectable but I'm well Awre that my appetite while on bike rides can help convert average food into something delicious so I'll reserve judgement until I've visited again. There is a spacious garden but I was disappointed as some careless dog owners hadn't cleaned up after their dogs so my group had to move to another table for our lunch. Overall its a pub I wouldn't mind returning to.
After a 3 hour drive to visit a friend, we were hopeful of a lovely Sunday lunch together, oh dear. Lambs livers on a bit of soggy, super value white bread! Roast pork so dry as to be reminiscent of school dinners! Roast potatoes so old that they defied even the tasteless gravy's valliant attempt at rehydration. Then to drive home the final nail in the coffin of expectation, the stuffing arrived as two little coins of sage flavoured bird seed! Suffice to say, an experience never to be repeated, the staff were lovely though.
Went for late lunch on the Saturday of Mother's day weekend. Quite quiet but our booking was 2pm. Food very good. Quite expensive we thought. Did not stay just lunch Food & drinks: As above
Lovely staff , really helpful when we got caught in the snow and had to stay over . Gave our dog some sausages and really accommodating to our family of 4. Would love to come back when we head to Ashwood Forest
Very friendly service from the moment we arrived, the staff could not have been more helpful. We stayed in the Pooh room makes me laugh every time, super cute, spacious and comfortable. Food was decent, prices too. Located right in the centre, a 1min walk to Pooh Corner and short drive to the woods, Pooh Sticks Bridge etc. We would definitely go back!
A real find. My partner and I were looking for a little break away, and this was perfect. In a beautiful village within walking distance of pooh corner. The pub has it's own car park which is rare in this village. The food is amazing. Both dinner and breakfast were so tasty. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the room was so nice with lovely quality furnishings. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was great. We loved everything about this place, and the building is full of character and history. Just perfect. Thank you!
