Had a fantastic Saturday lunch. Arrived at 12.30 March, no booking, lots of seating. Advised to order at the bar or the app - warning that starters and mains come together - if you want a starter and a main just order starters on the app, set up the main order and check it out when the starters arrives. We just ordered fish and chips main. The menu says it comes with mushy peas, but on the app, you can choose from a list of sides, so we had curry sauce - the photo shows the regular size portion we had. It was incredibly well cooked and so tasty. To drink we ordered pots of tea, which came out shortly before the main. I was really impressed that the pots were pre-warmed, so the tea stayed hot in there for the whole meal - we got 3 cups of tea from each pot. Notably, it's a young staff and they were a real credit to Harry Ramsden's - exceptionally hard working, polite, smiling and helpful. Finally, I have to mention what a beautiful building it was, very Victorian feeling with the coloured glass, parlour palms, and the view over to the sea and the pier. Tables were swiftly cleared and cleaned, and the toilet facilities were spotless. I'd highly recommend it and would happily eat there again.
Great Fish and Chips and service! Fish was really fresh and the chips were great. We had a regular portion and that was enough for us. We also had curry sauce and bread and butter both would get again. Service was good, you order either with your app or over at the bar. Does start to get busy from 12pm onwards.
Got to Harry’s Ramsden’s a wee bit before lunch started. We were the only one waiting in the que patiently while the cashier sorted out her till. She looked annoyed as if why are we standing there… A lovely Italian girl took our order, she was very pleasant and helpful. We were served by another 2 lovely gentlemen - great service again. The fish and chips was lovely, myself and my daughter enjoyed it . My younger daughter had BBQ wings which she seemed to have enjoyed. The manager was also lovely and helpful.
We enjoyed fish and chips in Bournemouth at this branch of the famous Harry Ramsden restaurant started in Yorkshire in 1928. Great food and we got the over 60s deal too! The portions are smaller, which is great for our time of life, but the taste is as good as ever! I thought I had posted text and photos with my original 5* review, but apparently they got lost, so I'm adding them now.
Complete disappointment. Overpriced, flavourless and tiny portions. Since childhood whenever I came to Bournemouth beach, I had always wanted to come here. The Large sign with the long queue during summer always had me anticipating for the day I would finally have 'Harry Ramsden's" famous fish and chips. Boy was I disappointed. Fish tasted like card board, and chips was grainy. The beans was probably a size of 2 table spoons and the squid was flavourless. Don't even get me started about the soup. Killed my dreams.
The Biggest Joke in Bournemouth. Had lunch at this 'fine' restaurant today, Mon 10th Apr 23 Easter Monday The staff - I walked in, table for one, the host was ever so welcoming. Asked my choice of inside or out, I went with inside. Went to the counter to order, the girl on the till was ever so welcoming as well. When my drinks arrived at the table, she misjudged the balance of the tray, and one of the drinks went before I could have caught it to stop the accident. The server was ever so apologetic, I had to assure her that "it is fine ", things happen. " I have worked in 6 star diamond hotels prior to my career, so I know how it feels. The staff here are exactly the team members for this type of service. Hats off. The Atmosphere - They're just over the Bournemouth beach, a beautiful view of the beach and shoreside itself. On a sunny day, you are definitely going to enjoy the outdoor seating options if you fancy it. The Food - Had a look at the menu and decided I'll go with the 'COD Burger' for £12.85. Now they claimed that they are 'World Famous', after my Cod & Chips, I'm not sure which world they are famous in. My burger arrived in fair timing, no complaints on that. Opened my burger to only find the "Succulent cuts" of my COD to be over battered i guess to mask the tiny dice cut Cod and so thin as if the COD fillets were then fillet again. You would get more value of a serving that would even hang out the burger from the roadside cooks in a serving van than in that establishment. The coleslaw served did not taste fresh at all, or maybe it's my taste buds, who knows. All in all, I would not give this establishment a try if I'm looking to enjoy a meal with value for the money they are asking. This restaurant does not have my heart - sad to say because the potential is there.
Kids on tow so wanted to sit and eat, saw this place and the prices, reluctantly went in, just had to sit down. Ordered from phone QR code+table number, great experience as each menu item has a picture, really helps. Service from staff spot on with smiles , refreshing. No waiting around for food, arrived promptly. Amazing food, fluffy chips, fresh haddock pleasantly surprised. We wasn't sure if it tasted good because we were hungry, so we went there again another day; yes, amazing again. Only critique, side of beans was tiny, and on both occasions they forgot to serve the deserts, had to remind them and wait. No big deal. The quality of food, venue and service do just about justify the big price. Looked up the franchise for branches closer to home, unfortunately 3 branches close to me have permanently closed so if you're nearby and after some proper fish n chips, look no further.
First time eating at Harry Ramsden’s. Food was tasty and arrived promptly. Price of the food was reasonable. Although the restaurant is self order, service was friendly and full table service is available but the service was friendly. Great place for fish and chips. Especially for over 60’s!
Great location and they take the blue light NHS card for discount, fish and chips were tasty. Rationale for 3 stars: super busy; you will see queues to order and queues to pick up takeaway. In terms of value was a bit on a pricey side, though is somewhat expected give the location. We wanted to attend the outside restaurant, though timing wise it was going through a refurbishment. There are better establishments within Bournemouth if you head into town.
Me and my husband went Bournemouth for celebrating our first anniversary. We went there two times. And we must say we both Love love the food. The interior was amazing. Food were fresh and waiter was amazing.
