Of world heritage status. Can access a certain amount of what is a ruin. Spectacular position / view from ramparts. Good storey boards in the castle supporting a good introductory visitor facility. Good cafe. Good parking facilities. Good for disabled access.

Excellent castle and well presented. The history is detailed and thoughtfully displayed. Dogs are allowed on the ground level, which was helpful. The views on a clear day are memorable. Perfect for anyone to visit.

Superb castle visit. Steep climb from the train station with amazing views. Warm welcome from staff, well stocked shop and cafe with inside & outside seating. Informative film that our boys watched twice and are still talking about a week later! The castle itself is wonderful, lots to explore, towers to climb and walks along the walls. Boys enjoyed completing the quest & getting a prize. Well worth a visit.

A good and interesting place to visit and you can even take your dog into the lower levels. However it can be quite expensive for a family and on top of this they charge parking hence the 4 star. If like me you begrudge paying for parking then drive a little down the road and you have a 2 hour (no return within 1) free parking bays.

Great place to visit. Teh visitor centre is better now, they took over the castle hotel a while back and have extended this area. Great views, info boards. Fun to walk round the walls, the views are fantastic. There was a demonstration on when we went which was interesting. Cafe looks good, although was very busy the day we went ( Easter Sunday) you can take dogs in the castle and in the patio of the cafe. Reasonable entry fee.
