Having just returned from a 2 day stay at the Hampshire Court Hotel i thought i would record what we thought of the hotel. Having read the review by Nick on the 22 Jul we were a little worried about the hotel, however this was totally unfounded! We arrived early, parked round the back in hotel specific slots (godsend! no parking fees!) Yes the rooms are a bit quirky but what do you expect for the price?? They were clean, and more than sufficient for what we needed. The owner was chatty and the staff really helpful during our stay. We had room 8 which was the biggest in the hotel, nice big bathroom too! So if you expect more from a hotel then be prepared to pay for it by booking somewhere like the Holiday Inn at £125 per night! Or better still book this hotel, a short walk to Gunwharf Quays, good hearty breakfast, your own parking spot and helpful and efficient staff. We would certainly book again!!

Great hotel, made from 3 Georgian offers messes, a flagship hotel for Portsmouth. Shown choice of rooms, all lovely character, and the hotel certainly has personality. Its not just one of those modern over night stay places. Great family run business.

My recent stay here was one I will never forget or repeat. The room was not of a very good standard with a cold shower and no toilet roll. The owner was very unpleasant with a rude and threatening manner and I would thoroughly recommend that people give this place a miss. To be honest, I'd rather sleep on the street!

This isnt really a hotel, its a B&B, and there are far better and cheaper B&Bs in the area. Its very close to Portsmouth University but its a bad hotel even by student standards. Our room was grimy and disappointing, even for a B&B, and the shower drain was blocked with hair and somewhat smelly. We asked to change rooms but they refused, and the man on shift in the evening got quite abusive when we asked for a refund so that we could go elsewhere (beware: if you book in advance with a credit or debit card they will take the full amount from your credit card immediately, not on arrival, and they do not seem to care about customer opinion or consumer rights). When we booked we were told that they did a light breakfast, which is their way of telling you in advance not to expect much, and you get the feeling that the staff are irritated with you for asking for a cup of tea! I'm trying to think of something good to say about this so called hotel but I simply cannot; perhaps its a good hotel for people who like rude staff, bad service, dont eat breakfast, and who like to go to bed early (doors are locked at 9:30 pm and guests are expected to be in by that time!!).

Rudeness, unwillingness to help and more rudeness with just about everything else (room, shower, decor etc.) average at best and rather run down at worst. With so many other good quality and recommended choices literally just down the road (for the same price or less) I'd have to say "give it a miss, guys!".
