Excellent, unpretentious and ever-so-friendly pub/restaurant. We went on Good Friday....and thanks to lovely weather sat in their garden, which is HUGE and dog-friendly. The food is mediterranean in style, ample choice and served in a timely and efficient manner. All staff were helpful and very cheery. We had a variety of dishes, including halloumi, avocado and tomato salad, all of which were yummy.
We had a lovely New Years Eve meal. We both had steak as a treat and it was one of the very best steaks I've had out in a long time. Hats off to the chef. The peppercorn sauce was bang on too, tons of flavour. I will be looking forward to my next visit! My partner had a fillet steak which was perfectly cooked with a delicious crust and was tender and pink inside. The dessert was a huge portion of crumble we ended up sharing and again was great. The pub is dog friendly also.
Friendly staff, good vibe to the pub, but let down by the food. Leek and potato soup had no substance to it, no potatoes or leek pieces in it, it was extremely watery or creamy with no body, that you would have expected with such a winter warmer. Roasts looked OK. Vegetarian choices not that inspiring.
A proper village pub. Great beers, and fabulous food at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend the Hampden Arms for good value and atmosphere. Dog friendly too.
Very decent little pub, friendly welcoming staff and food was top notch, special mention to the Celery and Stilton soup, easy 5 star review
The staff were lovely and the food was amazing. I had a 10oz Ribeye and it is in the top 3 steaks of all time and I've eaten herds of steak. The chips, onion rings, salad and sauces were all home made and so nice. Can't wait to go back to this country lane gem.
First visit for Sunday night supper. Lovely roast lamb with fresh veg. Generous portions and very tasty. A friendly welcome for dog too. Will definitely return...highly recommend.
Wanted to try this place for ages, and it's certainly worth it. The food is very good, I went for a ploughman's and it was excellent, I couldn't finish it! The staff are very friendly, there's a large garden and a good menu. Try it.
This establishment looked great but was so small and busy no table available. But from my experience I can see that this is a must next time I'm in the area, and I'll book a table.
Lovely little pub in the Chilterns very nice and friendly staff the children's dinner was excellent our main meal was very disappointing I had lamb it was hard and tasteless my sister had beef it was also very tough and fatty she nearly choked on it we couldn't eat it the potatoes had some much salt we couldn't eat them it was very disappointing also it was so cold we had to keep our coats on
