From the moment I first contacted Hammerton's and spoke to Craig he could not have been more professional and caring. We had the added complication that my mum in law was down in Somerset near us, but wished to have her funeral in Barnsley, her home for 93 years. Craig and the team made everything so easy for us, guiding us through the situation, making decisions when they needed to be made and helping us with other decisions. All communication had to happen by phone or email and again this was all done with respect and great care. The order of service was beautiful and again some decisions were taken but always run by me which I would not have thought about. On the day, it all went brilliantly, the pall bearers were attentive and professional and the cars gleaming! Craig rang me in the morning to see how everything was as he knew we had travelled quite a distance. Before the service Craig asked if the family would like a few moments with Mum in the chapel of rest, everyone was sceptical, but I felt we should do it. It was a lovely thing to do, after the initial quiet moments remembering Mum, the family began to chat and talk, it was a lovely moment. I can't recommend Hammond's highly enough, the whole team made the day as meaningful and dignified as possible and took the stress and strain out of the arrangements. For me personally, I found my many conversations with Craig so helpful and reassuring. Thank you everyone
All the team at Hammertons were caring, compassionate, friendly and truly sympathetic towards myself, son and daughter in law. The care and empathy they showed made us feel that only the best care would be taken whilst looking after my Barry. We have the utmost respect for Craig who is made for the fantastic job that he does in looking after families at such a difficult time. A massive thank you, to you all.
On behalf of my husband and father in law. We can not thank you enough for everything over the last 2 weeks. You all made my mother in laws finally journey so beautiful. From first contact the service provided was excellent… Craig was the perfect person he was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble .. our visit to Hammertons to see Ian before the cremation was very respectful and we were so glad we decided to go …. We felt like we were informed of every little thing and we had our hands held all the way through. We would highly recommend Hammertons everyone we met was very helpful and still are as we are in the process of getting a casket to bring Ian home .. Many thanks Margaret Smith
All the team at Hammerton's Barnsley have been wonderful. Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer with only a short time to live. We approached Hammerton's to discuss mums funeral and throughout every stage before and after she passed the help and support was perfect. Thanks to these guys mum had the funeral and service she deserved and my family and i will be eternally grateful. Thank you.
I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Craig who looked after mum during thi s unexpected and difficult time. Having dealt with Craig before I knew that she would be looked after by him. Craig is exceptional at his job and is the most compassionate, professional funeral director I have had the privilege of dealing with. His warm, supportive, sensitive and empathetic manor and guidance made the most difficult of times manageable. Nothing was too much trouble and he went above and beyond to give us, as a family the support and reassurance we needed. Hammerton`s took care of everything regarding the funeral including ordering flowers and the headstone and dealing with any permissions and permits that were required. They are very well organised and make sure that everything is handled professionally and with compassion, to make sure the funeral goes ahead with no problems. I would highly recommend them. Thank you Hammertons for the wonderful service that you provided for the funeral of my sons grandmother, Winnie McBride. A special thank you to Craig and Lorna who both made sure that the funeral was a true reflection of Winnies life. The whole process from start to finish was handled with care and sensitivity, I would highly recommend!
When our step-dad and mother recently passed away within 5 weeks of each other, John from Hammertons guided us throughout all the arrangements for both funerals. Not only did Hammertons care for our parents with dignity, they supported us as a family in a caring, compassionate and personal manner. Nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend them.
