Hall Garth Golf & Country Club Hotel

My wife and I have been a few times over the years and always had a lovely stay, but this time it's obvious that the maintenance is not what it should be. We had a feature 4-poster room, which was lovely, but the radiator in the bathroom didn't work. When they couldn't fix it we got a free bottle of prosecco and some chocolates, but it was still a cold bathroom. Some parts of the decor are looking tired, and water stains on a couple of ceilings, such as in the dining room, haven't been painted. Also some peeling wallpaper and badly wrinkled carpet in the dining room need attention. The dinner was very good as usual but my main course came with one small potato and no vegetables. They weren't even an option as a side order on the menu, so we had to ask for some, which were brought out quite quickly. In addition, the full English breakfast only comes with one rasher of bacon, which is a bit mean. After dinner we went to sit in the lounge with a night cap. There used to be a log fire burning in there in winter, but that is no longer the case so the room was cold and we drank our drinks quickly to get back to our room. It's those little touches that are missing now, which is such a shame. Despite all that, we still had a good time, and enjoyed using the pool facilities. I would also like to say that all the staff were very friendly and helpful, and none of the above concerns are a reflection on them.

Lovely place, could do with some updating in places inside and out. Mixture of staff, the young girl Ana on reception was lovely and very helpful, some of the others were less pleasant. Food was lovely. Accommodation was fairly priced, cleanliness was fairly good. Spa Could do with some updating.

Finding somewhere to eat on a Sunday evening is surprising difficult so tried the Hallgarth. Food was very good and for a hotel reasonably priced. Very quiet when we were there. Will visit again in the future.

Quite expensive, the rooms are okay, clean. The radiators need bleeding as there is an air lock so hot water doesn't flow well, but the shower works. The food was adequate but not amazing. The only thing that made me give this hotel 4 stars was the customer service. They were absolutely fantastic people and so accommodating and helpful for my sister's birthday. Even upgraded her to a suite for free.

Rooms need a lot of works. When I stayed the heating was on at full blast no way to control the temperature. Of you are staying here for work avoid it as the WiFi is super slow. Less than 1MB per sec speed. Gave two stars because nice location, golf course and courteous staff.
