I have always found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful particularly when I was in process of buying my flat even though I hadn't chosen the Halifax as my mortgage provider.
Abysmal service! Went into the branch to close an account urgently due to fraud risk. No one available for 2 weeks in Horsham. Made an alternative appointment for Crawley branch for the following week still hardly satisfactory and appointment was cancelled due to a bereavement and then no one answering the phone to rearrange!!

Tried to pay my credit card bill at the counter today, one counter open, someone clearly doing an involved transaction requiring proof of identity etc fair enough3 other staff, 2 at the help desk and 1 in a side office, crazy. I know why I closed my current account and moved to Santander.
Absolutely infuriating! Whilst waiting in a queue to pay in cash as machine out of order and only 1 cashier who was dealing with a lengthy transaction the Branch Manager came and asked if she could help. I said "I paying in cash" she said " I can do that for you" I said twice "this has to be in my account today as I'm paying a bill later", "oh yes definitely that will be in your account when do you need to pay the bill" she says "today I said" so was the money in my account when I phoned to make a payment NO!! Now gotta phone in the morning and find out why!! And this was the Branch Manager she either lied to get rid of me or isn't aware of her own Branches procedures!!!!!!!! No faith at all.
A non care,flippant attitude. No help whatsoever from anyone. Was told I’d get a call back within 5 minutes from the manager but when I called she was actually on a day off!!!! Would give minus stars if I could. Moving all my accounts to a proper bank!!
Totally agree with the other comment - before the 'refurb' there were 4 cashier desks. Then two. Now just ONE. I had to wait forever because there was a complex transaction going on. An employee told me 'You can use the machine for paying in cheques'. Yes, but will the machine allow me to withdraw the whole cheque amount straight away? The answer was no, of course. Considering I have quite a large sum in my 3 accounts, and I am receiving less than 1% interest, I am disgusted that I NOW have to use machines to save the bank paying for REAL PEOPLE to assist me! Now I am looking for somewhere to put my money, where I can speak to people, not machines - perhaps the old system of 'under the mattress' could be my best option!
Tried to pop in on my lunch break to run an errand, only one person serving as far as I could tell so after 20minutes of waiting unacknowledged and unattended I decided to leave. Not really sure how you're ever supposed to get anything done unless you have a whole afternoon to waste!!
