Would give 0 stars if possible. We had a kid saver account and tried to withdraw money to transfer to a S&S Junior ISA with another provider. Advised in branch not possible and provider needs to write to them. Assumed that they knew best. Fast forward and numerous correspondence between Halifax and said new provider; told recently by new provider cannot transfer across. We called Halifax also and they were not able to help much with this. So explored online and found we can withdraw funds on the app itself... Advice they gave initially was not only incorrect and beyond useless, but led to us wasting our time sorting out something that should have been simple and also our kids lost out on potential S&S growth. I will never bank with Halifax again and certainly not this branch. Pure incompetence.

Been banking with them for 5 years great customer service
Shocking service. They only seem to have one cashier working at any time, while the queue grows ever larger. You can easily be waiting half an hour for what in any other bank takes two or three minutes at most. Plenty of staff around - who will seldom sit at the empty cashier desks to speed things up - because they seem to have been instructed to stand at the front and do God-knows-what instead. Very frustrating! Other banks do not do this. To me, it shows a thinly-veiled contempt for the customer from the management. I admit I drew a wry smile while reading the 'verbal abuse will not be tolerated' signs at the desk, and wondered whether they might be the legacy of hundreds of disgruntled folk loudly and perhaps confrontationally expressing their grievances with the woeful service here. Even today, muted bellyaching was coming in from all sides. It's a shame, all this, because the staff themselves are actually very pleasant. The managerial incompetence and apparent disorganisation of this branch are not.
I had a few visits to the bank, had pleasant experience, staff were friendly.. I don't understand why so much of negative comments.. Its a good bank and staff are really good..
Horrendous waiting time mostly because there are only two cashiers serving. I was lucky twice to see three cashiers. You can see people in the queue getting more and more agitated. The Halifax don't seem to value their customers. If you have a complaint about waiting times tell head office they told everyone in the queue. I went one better and changed banks.
Not the least bit happy with this Halifax in South Shield, Ocean Road. I have an interview for a job and require a proof of address. I enter the branch and ask for a simple print out of my bank statement which is a simple task. Merely they have to access my account and then print and then stamp to verify it was printed by them. The lady in the front desk flat out refused and said "speak to head office". which means leaving the branch and going home to call a premium rate number and then wait for a statement to arrive which takes 6-10 working days. after a long argument with this lazy woman she got someone else who wasn't lazy to do the printout. most job interviews require proof of address in the last 3 months but they gave me one from months a go and didn't stamp it. so i have a printout of a ropey looking statement that cannot be verified and is too old to use. i was forced to do online banking as i chose not to accept paper bills in the past. if you go to the branch to check your balance they treat you like you've asked them to move mountains.
Absolutely rude and bad mannered staff, I wonder if they ever take a look at how bad there reviews are. I have been using this bank for 40 years and its without a doubt the worst its ever been.
Poor service but didn’t expect much as most of the Halifax banks I’ve been too have had shocking service wouldn’t have bothered going in but got non stop letters from the bank adding charges and service charges to my account tried ringing them But was waiting for over a hour and no one picked up the que was long but didn’t expect much from Halifax bank tbh
Excellent staff, very helpful, working under difficult and challenging conditions at the moment. Bank is well kitted out with signage and hand sanitizer. Could not be more helpful.
