Lunch for 4 mid week. The menu and service are excellent. We tend to dine out less but look for value and this does not mean cheapest. We had starters which ranged from devilled kidneys to potted shrimp. Main courses were fish cakes, liver and pan fried Sea bass. Desserts cheese., lemon flexi curd I know, but I have it on good authority that its delicious! Good range of local beers and the wine list is interesting and reasonably priced. Finally the setting is lovely. On a very warm day we were given a shaded courtyard table at the rear and throughout our meal the staff were attentive and patient, especially as we had not seen our fellow diners for a long time and we needed several polite prompts, before we eventually ordered. Great service, food, drink and staff. Thanks to all at the Halfway Bridge.
Lovely little venue behind a pub. The room is a good size with a comfortable bed, some seating, a fridge providing water and milk, hot drink options, and a nice bathroom. The main lady working in the restaurant bar is a delight. Welcoming, attentive and a really good host. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. For dinner, potted shrimp, fish cakes, pork belly, toffee pudding and cheesecake. For breakfast, full english and a salmon and poached egg English muffin. Both meals excellent, very, very filling, and cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend. Lots of walks around the hotel
Fantastic place to stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Lovely, high quality rooms with good amenities. Delicious full English breakfast with barista style coffee. Would completely recommend this wonderful place.
I review a lot of places And have to stick to the experience I had , stopped in today for lunch , the place has a beautiful aura with lovely staff who I can’t put down, they were wonderful helpful and polite but the food here is well over priced and not just a Tadd either , with 3 of us eating 3 separate meals there was nothing good I could say about any unfortunately, mediocre at best , even heard a table opposite us complaining to one another about there’s. Anyways we finished and went on to pay to see that no only the overpriced food your slapped with a 12%service charge ??? So you pay for your food and you heavily pay for it to be cooked and served. The owner must be laughing, you pay top prices for at best mediocre food and then you also pay for his staff to bring it to you Changes need making asap fortunately won’t be bk
Very nice food and convenient location. Service could be slightly improved: had to go to the bar myself to ask for sauces after the food was served. Otherwise, would recommend.
Stopped in for lunch. We chose pork pie, and Scotch egg. The Scotch egg and a wee bit of side salad cost £9.50. Would have been acceptable if the Scotch egg had been a good fresh butchers one. It wasn't. It like the pork pie, came straight out of a supermarket. Top prices, poor quality avoid!
We meet up with our family for Sunday lunch . The roast beef was overcooked and tough . Disappointing. In comparison to the roast chicken which was quite good . The puddings , well that is another story . £7.50 for 2 scoops of ice cream and several members of our party mentioned the portions where not over generous. I am not sure if we will return again in the future . Just to put into context .Meeting our family and enjoying the sunshine was the highlight of the day : The food certainly was not .
Very nice place. Fantastic food, beautiful surroundings and very welcoming staff. Top place to stop by!
Two of our party were unhappy about the carbonara because of how watery and tastless it was. Nick the manager came out and proceeded to tell us how it was absolutely fine and had been cooked by a chef that had worked in an Italian restaurant for many years, before even considering our complaint. He was very rude, confrontational and unprofessional. Sadly our evening was cut short. However the waitress was very accommodating unfortunately didn't get her name. Will not be returning.
What a beautiful find this was, we had a delicious lunch and the young lady that served us was an absolute delight. We shall be returning for an overnight Wnter stay in the cosy shepherd's cottage. Denise and David Moody.Rooms: 5/5
