Unfair Customer treatment It is sad that I have to write this as I have been taking my cars regularly to Halfords. What made me write this review is how they treated me as a customer and ripped off my money! It all happened when I went to Halfords auto centre on Newport Road, cardiff to get rectified the front and rear sound on my car. They reported issues with brake calibre, pads and disc as reasons for rear sound and quoted £800 inclusive of full service. On that day, nothing was reported for front sound despite me repeatedly telling the sound is quite evident. I was told that they couldn’t find anything wrong on front and the sound may be temporary. I trusted them and paid the money for servicing and rear brake related changes. A week later when I took the car for MOT, I repeated the same front sound issue to a different person at the reception desk who reported that the sound is quite evident & clear. He himself did not know why this was not reported to me in the first instance or even on the full servicing report. The reason for the sound was a fault in the gearbox and to fix that I need to change the gearbox and that would cost be £800 + one day labour charge. This is where things went bad as if I had been told all of the issues collectively upfront and the total cost of £1600 +, I would have taken an alternative route However, they told me half the truth so that they could take the money from the customer for a partial fix. Now they are reluctant to pay back or fix the gearbox free, as it is not recorded on service notes. From my point, I believe it is their fault to hide/lie the full truth to the customer. It is treating customer unfairly.
