Experience the sights, sounds and smells of one of the toughest jobs in the world as you explore the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. The recreations of streets and onboard environments will take you to the height of Grimsby's greatness at a time when the town was described as 'The World's Premiere Fishing Port'. The centre is also home to the legendary historic trawler, M.F.V Ross Tiger. Climb aboard her and experience, first hand, the atmosphere of a 1950's middle-deep water trawler. What a lovely museum. No wonder it rates so highly. Excellent staff. Lady on reception was so helpful and the gentleman that ran the tour round the boat was so interesting. He had worked on the boat so brought it alive for us. After the tour we went into the museum and lived it through the displays. Good spacious cafe as well. They are moving the cafe so it looks out on the dock and moving the trawler closer to the museum for a better customer experience.
The museum was clean and precise . .displays good and the life size shops and real boat was designed beautifully . .also the smells were quirky ! A good insight to the harsh life of the fishing industry. . The models were uncanny . . .bit too real! . .easy parking . Boat tour worth every penny . . The skipper was passionate about his past life as a Captain . .
Brilliant interactive museum with lots to see, hear and smell.nnFab tour of the Ross Tiger. It took and hour, cost just £3 each and the gentleman giving the tour actually worked on the boat when it was in service. He had some fab stories of what it was actually like working there.nnThe staff were friendly and there is a good size cafe selling drinks and cakes.nnGreat for kids and plenty of parking right outside.
Great to experience the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre.Experienced ex fishermen explain the past life on trawlers and the way of life in those bygone ages. Loved the place and the whole set up .The Viking display was also brilliant. A great day out to see how lives were rushed to harvest fish for the people.
Excellent, well set out museum enhanced by the well led tour of the trawler, Ross Tiger. Thoroughly recommended a visit.nLovely cafe too.
