I really hated this place for one main reason. DECEPTIONS. Firstly look at the hot dog they gave me, it looks nothing like the picture, wheres the jalapeños, the bread isn't fluffy, they might as well put the hot dog on a piece of Kingsmill loaf. The hot dog looks like the woman hanging on to a piece of titanic, and there was enough space for Jack.... I have to concede that the sausage itself was very delicious. Secondly, I pay for a meal which is £2 extra, you would expect that in these times of tax increases and ULEZ charges and covid fines they would provide you with a drink and chips for £2 extra. No they just give you some substandard chips and NO DRINK. Utterly ripped off. Thirdly, look at the peri peri fries they gave me. I bet you couldn't even tell there was peri salt on them. I was the one that ate it and I couldn't tell it was peri either. Its like they salt bae'd my chips with a pinch of peri salt. So disappointing. The Donna was atrocious, very thin small chuncks of meat. I ordered mixed and neither chicken or lamb was good. The naan that came with was very tasty and fresh though. The burger was gut wrenching and seriously no love put into any of this food. It's like they are feeding pompous cattle. Put some love, affection and effort into your food. I will not be coming here again, until there is major improvements.
Finally they have just re opened with the landlord and head chef running the place again. Just brought burger meals for everyone at the office, grilled burger meals were a delight and the cod burgers were especially light and tasty with the homemade tartare sauce. The place looked fresh and clean and the condiments complimented the food very well. Will definitely be a regular.
Best fish & chips place in East London. Everything cooked to perfection and lovely options for the meat-eaters too. Good choice of sides and compliments and friendly staff. Been eating here for several years now and it never disappoints.
Easily rate this place 5 star. Since it has been under new management they have really upped their game! Food is really good in here and so comforting.You can not go wrong here with whatever you choose, I would especially really rate their cod and fat chips. Burgers and donner is also very good here. You will enjoy your cheat meal!
Really surprised by the variety they had for a small restaurant. So you have a choice of fish and chips, "I mean the large chip shop chips" also pies as well as your normal grill food. I ordered the handmade burger "very flavoursome". Would recommend this place especially if are carving the old style fish and chips and shortcrust pie.
The first time I tried out the place was back in 2011/2012. Back then, the food was absolutely on point. Ever since they changed management after 2 years, the food was not the same. The quality of food had depreciated greatly. The burgers tastes like unseasoned rubber. Howbeit, I gave them the benefit of the doubt every year and this year will be the last time I do exactly that.
Extremely unprofessional. The only good thing about this place is the fish in batter. It advertised as "fish and chip shop" but their chips are lacklustre, they are always too hard and bland, nothing like a real batch of chips. When I ordered my chips and they arrived, there was a big puddle of this spicy curry that I DIDNT ASK FOR! Completely ruined the meal as it was a mates birthday, and I will not be coming here again.
Never orderring from there again. Ordered takeaway, hair was cooked in pizza dough.
They are friendly and a good bunch. Whenever i visit which is rarely it reminds me of my cousin who used to have takeaway all the time sadly he passed away very young aged 28
The original owner bought the shop and now it's fantastic again! The burgers taste exactly as I remember them and the pricing is much cheaper than other gourmet burger restaurants in London.
