"The Old Courts is a not for profit multi-arts venue which aims to bring innovative art, music, comedy, dance and spoken word to Wigan.Our building was built is 1887 and retains much of its original charm, including a Victorian courtroom and adjoining prison cells. It currently houses an art gallery, artist studios, two music venues, bars, band practice rooms and cellar cinema with plans to have an art café and theatre in the near future. All of your ticket, drinks, venue hire, and donation money go back into the project!"

Brilliant venue to host my 50th birthday party! Jo, Michelle and all the team were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and their advice on everything from decorations, food and music, ensured that everything was perfect on the night. They even put together a special cocktail with flyer to complement my purple disco theme, which was beautifully presented and a great price. All my family and friends had the best night thanks to this special venue and the amazing team running it. Michelle even made sure my young nephew who experiences social anxiety had a quiet space and was not too overwhelmed by the party. I would highly recommend the old courts if you are planning a private party. The food catering provided by little Italy Italian was also delicious !
I ran a Charity rock night in the Court Room, and Jo & Michelle were brilliant from start to finish, helping with the booking and laying out the room. Michelle went above and beyond to make the night a success even getting some Redstripe in and helping with the sound system. The night itself was a great success, with a busy bar! Staff worked like troopers, so thanks Mike and a few others. Can’t recommend the venue enough, they were brilliant. See you again in May
Great venue to play with nothing too much trouble for Michelle and her team. An outstanding evening was had by all. A massive thank you from Paul, Mark, Andy and Mike AKA Jinx’d. We look forward to returning soon.
Brilliant place for a party. Jo and her staff made us feel so welcome. Easy to book and we got exactly what we wanted for my husbands 70th party. Michelle really helped us in setting up the room the buffet and clearing up all the time We had a fabulous night and would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a great time.
Had a great night at The Old Courts for my birthday. Michelle was a brilliant host who went above and beyond to make sure everything went to plan before and during the party. Nothing was too much trouble for her and we had a great laugh on the night.
Last night was my mums 80th birthday and as she used to work at the county court, my sister and I decided it would be the perfect venue to throw a surprise party for her, and it really was just that! Michelle was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She went above and beyond to make sure the evening ran smoothly. She and her team could not do enough for us. If you are looking for somewhere to throw a celebration then the old courts is definitely the place to go. We will be back . Thanks again Michelle for making the evening flawless and for making sure my mum had the party she deserved.
We had our wedding at the old courts last weekend and honestly can't thank the team enough for everything they did. The place looked amazing and the entire team were so friendly and professional nothing was too much trouble and many of our guests commented on how great they were. Thanks to everyone who played a part in making our special day so perfect
Beautiful building and it was a beautiful room. Lots of wood and high ceilings. The staff were really helpful. The only downside was that the heating was not working that night so the room was a bit chilly. They did put heaters out to try and take the chill off. Would recommend for a party!
Had my wife’s surprise 50th Birthday party and it was absolutely fantastic, great venue and the staff were brilliant, thank you so much to Michelle who was a brilliant host on the night and to Jo and Steven for all the help and advice when booking , if your looking for a place to have a party in Wigan then I can highly recommend the old courts.
Went to see a band The High Rip. The venue was bigger and better than when I last went. Packed this time with These Smiths playing. Improved floor, maybe an improved bar next time.
