A Must see for anyone interested in Ancient history. Our tour guide recommended this site as we were staying in Llandudno. The site surpassed expectations and you only get to see a small fragment of the caves! They have a wonderful museum that explains the site and what an important find it was. The main chamber was so massive that it was hard to capture how impressive it was in a photo. Go see for yourself and be amazed at how prehistoric peoples carved these huge caverns out by hand.
This is a great place. The shop has loads of books about Wale's history, place names and places to go... maps of walks and cycle rides, all the the tourist stuff and loads of stones and jewellery items. Really is something for everyone. The exhibition is eye opening... The conditions that the people worked in and the ingenuity they had is incredible. The exhibits, videos and text around the site were interesting and educational. The chance to actually go unethical and see where they mined was fantastic... It really Bright to life the scary and dark and damp conditions kids as young as 5 worked in underground. Well worth a visit.
Fascinating place! Hard to believe both how old this place is and how recently it was discovered! Still so much more to uncover of what would have been a huge community based on copper mining. I am not a lover of things underground and tight spaces but this was achievable for me. I felt safe and didn’t feel scared at all given that it was just all so interesting!! The cavern is amazing… photos cannot do it justice. We even took the dog and 2 babies in slings. Just go!! This place is unique in the UK.
Fun place to visit. Lots to learn. Going into the mine was great. Quite a squeeze in places, good lighting. Hard hats needed. Good shop with fossils and gems with very well stocked second hand bookshop. No cafe but has toilets.
Fantastic place to visit and in a beautiful setting. Some fantastic history. Beware of school kids trips. If you fancy a peaceful walk around. Nice little gift shop.

This trip was Amazing! First you find out about the history then you descend on a self guided tour. It was about 25°c when we arrived and in the mines you could see your own breath. Do not enter with shorts an t-shirts like we did ! The walk was about 20 minutes and had some pretty deep drops. But I would not come here expecting a day trip as it takes only 1-1/2 hrs Max. To conclude though I enjoyed it very much!
Wow this is great place to visit been wanting to do this for years but was on the larger size so was worried I'd get stuck. so after loosing weight I decided I'd visit and wasn't disappointed walking around the mines with my daughter who loved walking round until she forgot to duck and the helmet banging on the rock which obviously banged her head. We bout a few mementos of our visit quartz Rock, gold flakes in alcohol and a book on the mines, would definitely visit again.
The Great Orme Mines offer a fascinating insight into a key part of the Bronze Age - the mining of copper. Excavations of this mine have transformed what we thought we know about the lives of ancient Britons living here and within the borders of what is now Great Britain 4,000 years ago. Not stuck in the Stone Age at all, but actively mining copper and exporting it to different countries around the world. The part that the people of this area of Wales played in the development of European civilisation should be more widely known and celebrated. I could wish for more tunnels to be opened to the public, but it works seem churlish to subtract a star for that. Archeological work and research continues, so who knows what the future holds.
Me and my son really enjoyed our trip. Wish we could have explored more. Spent about 40mins here. It's not big. But the tunnels are good and the video explaining it was very informative and interesting even for our 5 year old
