Nice lil ride to gravesend today roads dead shops all shut it was a lovely relaxing ride out
Had to be done. A little ride on a little boat to nowhere. The world's end apparently. Great form of transport if it's on your route. 4£ return off peak. Runs every half an hour. Not on Sundays.
A lovely trip across to Tilbury Where you will arrive at Tilbury Cruise terminal. Sometimes you can sea huge Ocean going cruise liners docked here waiting for their passengers. Just a short walk up the road is The World's End Pub , Tilbury Fort and Tilbury's train station . Return fair is £4 off peak .
Today just an onlooker taking photos on the river. A few years ago I had a ride across on the ferry and back. Enjoyable experience. Reasonably priced fare and if you have a bus pass it can be used on the ferry too.
Nice early morning stroll along the front before the crowds turned up. Couple of hours free parking in a road nearby too. Obviously not much open due to the pandemic.
Very nice place to go, I remember when the old ferrys used to go from here.
I don't use the ferry much, just when I fancy a trip to Gravesend. Never had a problem. The current boat is vast improvement on the last old wreck! If you have a senior bus pass you travel free. Can sometimes be a problem finding somewhere to park on a Saturday.
When you try to use this service, it's potluck! The bus link between the Tilbury pontoon to the Tilbury town railway station, is never there. So you're walking, either to or from the ferry. Whether the ferry will take you across, is another matter. 1 hour before the last crossing time, they call from a distance "We're finished mate!". That was at 6:10 pm last service is 7:10. I've had feedback from other patrons, that it isn't uncommon, that the ferry crew do this. Regardless of passengers waiting to cross. My advice, make sure you reserve a hotel room. Just in case you're stranded and can't get home anymore.
Good location to enjoy if you are local, but the water is not that great, It is not like a beach
Absolute disaster of a service. Complete lack of communication with time after time no service at all. Obviously jetstream do not care whether this service runs or not. Their last communication being 5th of March now being the 7th March and their customers are none the wiser to when it will run again. The only saving grace is the staff who are reasonable and helpful.
