Great local shop. Lots of special buys and member discounts. Slightly more expensive than a large super market due to the convenience aspect but what you save in fuel makes the difference as long as it’s not a weekly shop. Staff are great, always polite, professional and helpful. There is a good range of items and the queues are minimal.
Great staff but the shop is largely overpriced, you often can't find what you're after & tills tend to be understaffed with an emphasis on trying to pressure you into using the rubbish self service tills, which are clearly unpopular given the number of people that prefer to queue for the single counter that's open.nnThere's a lot of premium priced food that tries to look like it's farm shop quality but it's not & the ingredients often reflect that & it doesn't look like it even sells that well as it's frequently found yellow ticketed.nDeals are also constantly changing for the worst such as £5 pizzas changing to 2 for £10 or £6.50 each & now they've stopped stocking/producing the only one I enjoyed.nnAs another review states: there's also way too much space devoted to alcohol that would be better used for other things because it needlessly rivals a full size supermarket's offerings.nEdit: It's also worth mentioning that they did at least have a great selection of ale when they first opened but sadly most of the good stuff now seems to have been removed largely in favour of Marston's increasingly disappointing & watered down offerings.
Love the great selection of dry goods, household items, fresh foods, frozen foods and bakery. The layout is perfect the store is always clean and well organised and parking is great too
I echo the sentiments of many people that have already left a review of this shop. Things have gone downhill since CO-OP took over from Budgens.nnThe one positive to note is that the staff are really good and friendly, many of whom used to work here before the CO-OP took over.nnWhilst Budgens was never cheap, it at least would always offer stocked shelves and a good variety of foodstuffs. Since the CO-OP has taken over, prices are higher and many of the shelves are bare. Too much of the shop’s layout is dedicated to drinks, meaning that there is less space for everyday food and household essentials.nnThis isn’t a recent problem, the lack of stock on shelves seems to have been an issue for well over a year now and shows no signs of changing. It will sometimes take several days for shelves to be restocked, even for basic items such as fruit and veg.nnIt’s a shame that Sawbridgeworth’s local convenience store is no longer reliable and is more expensive than before.
I've constantly come in and bought food that ends up having mold on it, usually not visible when purchased. They're also extremely slow and can't process packages at a normal pace. I have a disability and it makes it hard to pick things up. When I asked how long it would be, the woman gave me a long winded excuse for being slow that was rude and demeaning. Wish the Morrisons was larger because the customer service is 100% better there.
