I cannot understand all the 5 Star reviews, we had two takeaway fish and chip meals for17.50 a couple of nights ago, it was absolutely awful. Tasteless fish, bits of cheap chips undercooked and not one the proper shape of a chip. We half ate one packet and gave one away to a beggar in Edinburgh Station.
Second time in few weeks we have ordered fish and chips. Both times food was cold and fish seemed like it was reheated from previous night, very tough!
Personally I measure a chippy on the quality of their chips and this place is top drawer. One of the best in the area. One star off due to having no GF options.
Took 90 mins from order time on website. Had to contact them after an hour had passed as the website had been telling me for half an hour that delivery was on its way. I was told on the phone that they had been very busy and that was why the delivery was late. Then I was told that the delivery was already on its way and should be with me very shortly. When it arrived, 20 minutes later, the 'chicken kebabs' as shown in the photos were unlike any other chicken kebab I had ever had before even from Gorefry. No marinade and no flavour and very dry. Looked as though they had just chopped up some chicken breast and stuck it on the grill just to get it out the door. When the missus phoned, she was assured it was chicken kebab. Kebabs' were refunded but we won't be ordering from here again.
Great value for money; really great serving sizes and just a good classic chippy.
Travelling home from the borders and fancied a chipper. Best chips I've had in a long time, battered king rib was also tasty nice batter just to make it even better they have chippy sauce I now live in Aberdeen and sauce is just not a thing, it's always salt and vinegar. Anyway, really good chipper, I wish it was my local
Has been a bit hit and miss of late. Last week we had a family takeaway. Fish was a bit tasteless, King Rib wasn't up to much. Scampi was good, and a good sized portion. Pakora was awful, tasted like it had been fried 2 or 3 times over.
Best donner kebab I've tasted from anywhere in midlothian and pizza nice too

Always pleased when I visit Gorefry. Usually order online and collect, never have to hang about waiting. Particular favourite is their mini calzone supper, cracking little find. Don’t find the food to be greasy, unless I order a donner pizza but I suppose that can’t really be helped.
