Purchased two birthday cakes for boxing day one as a centre piece and one to cut for guests. Both cakes appalling wonky, uneven tops and the sugar crafting even worse. Emailed a design and all I got was smudged sugar paper with some decoration not even on the cake. Although they offered to correct the cake the elderly lady's attitude was appalling stating the one was only for cutting. It's not the first issue we have had purchased a Christmas cake last year that had two layers of buttercream to build the sponge. When purchasing a cake that you have sent a picture of why would you think a printed sugar paper design is okay, no skill whatsoever do these bakers have in sugar crafting and seem to think it is fine to fob customers off with disgraceful cakes. Ninety pounds being the total for these cakes the shop still having forty pounds. I am that ashamed and embarrassed with these cakes they won't even be placed on the table. I would of prefer a complete refund leaving both cakes there as they were that bad visually let's hope they taste better than they look.
I recently purchased a birthday cake for my daughters 21st from Gordons. The cake was beautifully made and tasted lovely. Staff are very friendly and prices are affordable. I would recommend this company and I will definately purchase cakes from them in the future.
***please look at photos of the pink/white flower cake*** I'm absolutely gutted if I'm honest. I ordered a cake for my mums 50th birthday. I asked for the cake to be EXACTLY how it was in the picture. For normal people that would mean same hight same design, same decorations. Now I cannot fault her flower making abilities as they are beautiful but the cake as a whole is not at all what I asked for. I payed slightly more than other places quoted due to wanted a higher quality as you only turn 50 once. What I was presented with was nothing short of a quick botch job. The cake was half the height that it was supposed to be, then making everything look squashed and overcrowded instead of the dainty and pretty as it should. I played, walked back to the car and cried. I am not one for confrontation so I couldn't even say anything. I have no time to buy another cake and I feel utterly let down. So sad that I wasted my money and my mums party now is not perfect as planned :
Emailed Gordon's celebration cakes to discuss a birthday cake for my wife. They never even bothered replying to me. So whilst I can't comment on their cakes I can certainly rate them on their customer service. Which seems poor at best.
