Gordon's Wine Bar
"London's oldest wine bar, situated close to Covent Garden in the heart of central London. Hidden away, choose from a candlelit table in the cellar or take a seat in our year round al fresco dining area on the terrace. We have an extensive selection of great wines to suit all tastes. With artisan cheeses, charcuterie, vegetarian and vegan options to pair with our wines, we offer a relaxed and informal place to enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle of the city."

My favourite wine bar in the whole world! Been coming here for decades and I never tire of it. Quirky, candle lit, historical and charming. A great way to step back in time. The terrace outside is great on a sunny day. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Service is quick and. This is a wine bar so I don't think there are beers and there was no cider or soft drinks. Dogs and children are welcome, but it isn't the most interesting place for kids. Drinks are quite expensive but worth it. £12 for glass of prosecco. Steps away from the embankment tube station making it easy to get to and walking distance of Covent garden and central London. This is a real gem of a place not to be missed.
We've been looking forward to this place for a while. There is usually a queue if the weather is really nice, especially in the evenings there are no reservations. We were a table of 4 and waited for 45min~1 hour to be seated. It has a nice atmosphere, could see plenty of people on dates. We got 2 bottles of wine and a cheeseboard twice because the wine was really good and came up to 70~80£ per person. Of course this is dependent on what wine you order. It Is a slightly expensive place but they have a big wine list, good cheese selection and nice atmosphere outside. The service was also quick! Not something I'd do everyday, but highly recommended.
Always pass by this place whenever we go to embankment, which usually has a long time. Finally made up our mind to visit this wine bar. We arrived at 11:40ish, with no line at all, and the kitchen opened at 12--perfect timing!! Wine, food, ham, and bread were all good. Love it and would definitely visit here again~Food: 5/5
The atmosphere alone deserves 6 stars. Downstairs, in the cave, felt fresh even with sun hitting strong outside. The cheese selection is also gorgeous and the wine selection is extensive. It did not feel overpriced as well, jist slightly expensive as they charge some service fee. Ended up paying around 24 pounds per person for a modest 2-cheese platter and 3 glasses of wine. Strongly recommend.
Our recent visit to Gordon's Wine Bar on a quiet Wednesday afternoon was an absolute delight. With no wait in sight, we found ourselves nestled in the back, surrounded by the enchanting ambiance of what must have been an old wine cellar, steeped in history. As one of the oldest wine bars in London, Gordon's exudes a timeless charm that harks back to its inception in 1890. Situated near Embankment Tube station, it occupies a charming Victorian building and is renowned for its cozy and atmospheric cellar setting. The wine and cheese selection at Gordon's is nothing short of spectacular, catering to every palate and preference. While the service was a tad slow, it didn't detract from the overall experience. We were promptly greeted upon arrival, setting the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable outing. What truly stole our hearts was the ambiance – the dimly lit cave-like setting exuded an undeniable charm, transporting us to a bygone era of London's rich history. Paired with the extensive selection of wines, it made for an unforgettable experience. In summary, Gordon's Wine Bar earns a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars in our book. We're already dreaming of our next visit to London, where Gordon's will undoubtedly be at the top of our list for a return excursion. Cheers to Gordon's Wine Bar – a true gem in the heart of London's vibrant scene!
Impressive, the ambience is really good and I ordered a few slices of cheese that I wasn’t expecting much, but the presentation and quantity was very good. Many options of wine. The only thing is it closed too early, for this kind of places, I was expecting not to be reminded to leave kindly at 22pm. We were 3, and spent nearly 70 pounds for a bottle of wine and the table of cheese, acceptable I think.
Gordon's is a not so hidden gem near embankment. Walking down the steps into the cozy dim lit cave is like stepping back in time. It may be busy and take a while to get in at certain times, but it is definitely worth it. The wine list is fantastic, it can be very difficult to find wines so good served by the glass. The wine list has plenty of vegan wines and even a vegan cheese board, so a real underrated gem for vegans too. Gordon's is simply a must visit for everyone
Lovely patio in the shade with large selection of bottles/glasses. Lots of meat and cheese boards as well as salads. The caves looked amazing but we opted for the patio. Vegetarian options: Vegan cheeses available and multiple vegetarian options.
I don’t think you need to hear the history of this place…it’s well-known. What you need to know is that they’ve got nice cheese and wine.. sadly they were out of alcohol free wine but I’ll be back. The orange juice I had was nice too. Their staff is patient, polite and fast. They are professional: not too distant, not too close, making you feel like you are visiting friends. Loved it all. Thank you.
This wine bar is for sure a must see stop if you're in the area and looking for a drink. The interior is a sunken grotto, yanking you back in time effortlessly. The outdoor seating options were super busy and buzzing with activity on a Tuesday afternoon. The wines we tried from the massive list and snacks we had were all excellent.
