Thankfully people vote with their feet and once you have bought fish and chips here and discover the chips are like hard cardboard and the fish is some kind of tasteless pre-fab block which definitely isn't cod or any other type of quality tasting fish, you will never return again. I cant believe this place has even 3 stars but i am guessing any positive reviews are from staff members and their families. They also like to take cash only as clearly paying UK taxes are beneath them. In this current climate of armed robbery, gun and knife crime etc, If I was a parent i wouldn't want my kid working in a place which advertises they only take cash. I am looking forward to seeing this place close down for good along with their sub standard food and clear no card payments tax evasion.
Simple order of cod and chips, small battered sausages and small chips... Got...cold battered sausage, rubbery burnt cod and what I can only describe as a very small portion of chips...missing one portion of chips but the bonus of a disgusting rubbery savaloy! All straight in the bin! Will not be going here again! Off to another get dinner from a different takeaway..
Food is ok but its 50/50 if you get what you have ordered. This is probably the 5th time i have not got all the stuff i have paid for!!!

Golden Star is not the best, but it's certainly not the worst. The food tastes good, the curry sauce tastes great although for me a bit thin in texture. The staff are very friendly and talkative and it's priced as you would expect. I recommend Golden Star if you're passing by.
This used to be the best chippy in town, the fish was thick flaky cod with tasty batter, but it now looks like it has been roller-ed its so thin, tasteless fish often over cooked, burgers, peas fritters, scallops all were big and thick but again thin, small images of there former selves. it is all cheap, but put the prices up and return to the former quality please. this has been the case for the last 3 visits, each hoping is was an off day but clearly this is how it is now. Real real shame,
Found golden star to be one of the best chippies in the area for quite some time, don't really use them for a Chinese takeaway so I can't comment on that, but for fish and chips have always been good. They also make a great curry sauce.
Really think the staff need to learn the difference between portion size I had lage chips was more like extra small I can't even imagine what a small chips would be like. The food was rubbish and the staff are very unprofessional. I will definitely read reviews of places in future

very good fish and chip. Chicken Curry is nice. They taste delicacy. We will try different food next time.
