I’ve seen this place mentioned a lot on TopJaw and in one of the episodes I saw Sandra who is the owner of this pub. She just seemed so lovely and cool that I wanted to experience this pub and actually got to meet her?! She was even cooler and funnier in person! The staff is super duper nice! A great experience overall! Highly recommend!
Really nice pub, good atmosphere and very cosy but for the love of all things good and holy please don’t serve lager in a straight glass, one of the hardest pints iv ever had to drink, wouldn’t mind but when your paying nearly £7 a pint I want some life in my drink, flat moretti is not the one.Service: 5/5
This is one of the few times I ignored the Google Reviews score as I was guided by the Timothy Taylor’s pint finder on their website for a pint of Landlord. And we were not disappointed! On a busy Saturday with plenty of people in the area for the markets, this was a nice break from the madness. The young bartenders were super friendly and so helpful. We asked to look for the EPL on the television and to make a couple custom cocktails in addition to a proper pint of Landlord and some draft cider. They didn’t hesitate and were so cool about it. Without a doubt this place is better than its average score.
Friendly staff. Limited cask ale, just Taylor's Landlord, but in really good conditionService: 5/5
Really rude employee at this pub, she asked for my cousin’s ID in a really rude and condescending way, despite my cousin just ordering lemonade?? To be clear I had no issue with her asking for ID but there’s a way you should treat your customers and she chose to be as rude as she could be. Would of stayed for another drink but decided not to due to this woman’s attitude. Not coming here again and would suggest others to do the same, a shame given that the other servers were really friendly. Pretty sure her name was Sandra, given everyone else’s reviews, she was a young brunette with a bob.
Proper traditional English pub in an area that is cool but not as cool as it was. Thankfully this place still exists.Service: 5/5
A nice place but one of the servers Sandra was very rude, smelling of alcohol and harassing me and my friends. Unfortunately we were forced to leave the place straight after paying for our drinks due to her behavior. Hygiene also needs a big improvement. Avoid this place if you value your health!!!Food: 1/5
This pub is definitely okay. Nice place to watch sports as they have 2 screens. The staff really could use some training in being more friendly. The landlady, and I assume she's the landlady is a bit lot and shall we say, a bit too much to the point. When you consider that this pub is right in the heart of Spitalfields and opposite the market, it must get a lot of footfall and you'd think the staff would be more friendly. Definitely won't be coming back.
This is a lovely little pub in the heart of Spitalfields/ Shoreditch area, polite bar staff, great decor, constant flux of patrons, great jukebox...but beware of Sandra! On a bustling saturday afternoon, after buying 2 rounds at £35 each and spending a fiver loading up tunes on the jukebox, she cut the music to turn on a football match with commentary on! When we mentioned about the fact we had just put £5 in and were enjoying the tunes, could we perhaps keep the music on footie volume down as not really needed she just turned up the football volume more, then accused us of threatening her when we asked to keep it on we were a group of 4 mild 40-somethings!! Another 2 lots of people moaned about preferring the music also, once they saw Sandra in action, decided to follow suit and just leave...so after spending £75 in an hour, she loudly said "there go the nightmares!". You couldn't make it up. This is a nice pub, just don't always expect fair/ nice treatment, such a shame!
Went in for a quick pint, place was empty so walked up to the bar to ask if it was open. The landlady was through in her office and I caught her eye. Before I could say a word she told me that I was impatient and to wait. Just walked out, she was very rude.Food: 1/5
