Specifically went here to see what the recent refurb was like. We weren’t disappointed it was looking great. A good selection of drinks and a good menu. The only reason I’ve dropped a star on the food was because of the Mac n cheese, it could’ve done with putting under the grill for a few minutes just to crisp it up a bit. Overall really really good. The chip shop platter was excellent with well cooked fish with a crispy batter.
Undercooked bacon.... Raw. Undercooked tomato. Hard. Butter you can not spread. My second outing to the golden eagle and second time disgusted at the food coming out of the kitchen.nBut absolutely a lovely pub. Just kitchen cooking needs serious improvements.
Been here many times over the past few years and the staff are always extremely welcoming. The food is cheap but fantastic. Wonderful place for a few drinks and a bite to eat. Highly recommended

Had the best lunch. Cat & Jacob made us feel welcome & dealt with every request as we have a 1 year old. They couldn’t do enough for us. Can’t wait to come back.
