What can I say it our regular takeaway we've never had a bad meal Food: 5/5
This is the third time we've had a meal from golden city and it seems to get better every time superb meal really enjoyed it meat was for two
Do not recommend Food - The last order I found two strands of black hair, and im blonde. The food was dry, overcooked and sometimes still raw. Worst takeaway food i have had. Even gave me food poisoning!! Service - extremely rude, unfriendly, refusing refund, screams/shouting from the kitchen, one of was a child, kinda weird and wouldn't you think not safe ? don't know if they simply didn't like me, because the other reviews commend them for their good customer service.
the takeaway is now under new management and definitely improved! Yesterday we enjoyed some delicious seafood, chicken satay and BBQ ribs dishes. Even the free prawn crackers had a different lovely taste than before. Well done! Would recommend it to everyone.
Just served and cooked lovely and extra sauce is never a problem.very kind and happy people and loved my food.
Golden city on Highters Heath Lane, has been our go to Chinese takeaway Friday dinner for years. But recently the quality of customer service and, standard of food has changed so much, we're really upset and really miss the old Golden City. Rumour has it that they changed their chefs. Some of the problems : - The ribs have hardly any meat on them. - A few times this year a plain portion of boiled rice was like eating sand! So crunchy that it is not consumable, and once or twice we had some half cooked, half raw rice. Absolutely disasterous. - A lot of the food have become really oily, like the egg fried rice. I don't know how they can mess up on egg fried rice. - we found hair human hair, in our food. First time was in Feb, black eyelash in the peking duck, second,May, long black hair in our chow mein, and third time July, another long black hair in the fries 2019. Complained to owners, but they don't speak English, so the cashier dealt with our complaint. We wanted a full refund, obviously, but we instead were accused of setting them up. They refused a refund and angrily told us to leave. Two other issues worth noting is, there is a lot of screaming, raised voices, a very angry toned male in the kitchen. I may have misunderstood the situation, and that what I heard was just normal conversation? Why so loud though. They have a child running around the business, yes, a child, she's about 5? maybe 6? During one of my visits, I watched a small, skinny girl randomly going in and out of the kitchen. I have two 6 year old boys, and as a mother I would never let them in the kitchen when I'm cooking. It's a hazardous environment and so dangerous, I was speechless. I asked one of the employees and she said, she's an only child, gets bored easily, so shes always trying to get her parents to notice her. There's no heating upstairs, not even an electric heater, I honestly don't know how they survive winter! She also said that the dad is really petty and cheap. He's so cheap that their dinner are either rejected orders, produce expirying soon, or the cheapest food items when grocery shopping. She's seen them eat rice with just broccoli, rice with tasteless chicken, and just an egg. No wonder their daughter is so skinny. My heart aches so much for their daughter.
Service is excellent. Lady on front is very friendly and helpful. Most of all... I love the food. I pass so many Chinese takeaways and restaurants, just to eat their food. Recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food and amazing flavour.
Theyve always had fast, efficent service and their portions are large. The crispy shredded chicken and the chow mein are very tasty.
Had a lovely meal here. X chow mein was lovely and I had scallops stuffed with prawns which were lovely and served with the nicest broccoli I have ever tasted. Staff were very helpful.
Excellent food and customer service as always
