Very authentic curry house. I had a veg jalfrezi the spice level was good but was missing the sweet aftertaste unfortunately, but wasn't too heavy. The coconut rice was nice with the dish. The papadom starter was crunchy but wasn't fresh from the pan all in all it was good. Not too busy and the host looked after us.
I had been looking forward to visiting the Golden bengal for ages as it looks really nice. But my hopes were dashed; the setting and the staff were pleasant, once they got round to serving us. The problem for me was that the food was only OK, or worse. The tarka dahl was flavourless and the rest of the dishes ok. So, three stars means to me its ok and I would go back although would rather find somewhere else. Finally, to life the mood some “humour” which has nothing to do with the Golden Bengal. My wife said she could smell an Indian flatbread from a mile away. I said that was naan scents.
Staff are RUDE! Placed order online, after 25min of order pending i call the phone number to have CLOSED shouted down the phone and then hang up when its Tuesday and the website states they are open. Spend your money elsewhere! Scumbags

Have been to the Golden Bengal several times and pleased to see that the hygiene level has lately increased to a 5 from a 4 previously. However, this last week I found that the takeaway was a bit pricey palau rice at £4.30/portion! and overall not as good quality as before. Maybe just a change of chef?

Called up, order ready and hot in 25 minutes. Achary chicken spicy and lovely, absolutely mahoosive portion of tasty saag paneer and great naan/poppadoms. Would definitely recommend.
After reading the good reviews I was really looking forward to this. Sadly like some others reviews have said, all our dishes lacked flavour and came out semi warm. Most of the dishes tasted exactly the same. The decor and plates are from the 1980s but that adds to the charm, if only the food was better. Could have been vastly better if the food came out hot. Additionally they could hire some staff that smile and at least act as if they are happy that we are there. The owners nephew was the only one that smiled and had any personality, really the 3 stars are for him.
Have you read reviews about the food tasting the same? Ignore them. Have you read reviews about the food being served cold? Ignore them. The Golden Bengal is superb. The food is excellent and the menu incredibly varied. No matter what your spice tolerance you will be either satisfied or challenged! One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, with service to match. Just go.
