"The Goddard Arms is a friendly hotel located right in the heart of Swindon's Old Town. The Old Town itself, which includes our building and the surrounding areas are full of rich history. The Goddard Arms is an old converted Coaching Inn where horse-drawn coaches used to change horses en route to their next destination. We are also right next door to the beautiful 50 acre Lawns Park which was once the estate of the Goddard family and where the name of our hotel comes from. There are easy links to the M4 and M5 plus the hotel is just a 15 minute walk from the closest bus station and 30 minutes from Swindon train station. We have 17 rooms which all come equipped with a hairdryer, TV, shampoo and tea/coffee facilities."

Have just stayed at the Goddard Arms for a school reunion this weekend. Overall, very good stay, and highly recommend this location. We booked online about a week prior to the reunion. Arrived about 2pm. Booked in at the bar given minimal paperwork to fill in which covered free car parking which is located to the rear for about 20 cars. Free car parking was a nice touch. Our room was number 3 situated at the front of the property on the first floor. Overall very good room, spacious, good en-suite. Had a TV and coffee machine which we never used Bed was very comfortable. Only minor points were the squeaking floor boards and a constant humming electrical noise coming from the bathroom area. Very friendly staff throughout our stay....special mention to Ben who manned the bar downstairs for our function....Well done Ben top job... Price of our stay included a breakfast on Sunday morning....great choice which is freshly cooked to order. All is all an excellent stay, thank you. This is a friendly popular pub with the locals with a nice friendly atmosphere. This Pub is located in Old Town Swindon close to the other pubs and restaurants....great location.
Too nice a place for Swindon : The staff could be more attentive when the bar is at its busiest. A few people got served before us, albeit we were waiting longer. Two bar girls then tried to serve us and we ended up having to buy 3 drinks, when we only asked for two half pints. The security are extremely friendly, and the waitresses really caring when one saw us standing at a table with no chairs she brought the chairs for us as soon as they became available. Kudos to you Girl
Visited the Goddard Arms on Thursday. All of the staff were very pleasant. Bar staff were very willing to give me options regarding the gin choices. I decided to go with the gin that one of the staff members recommended. Good recommendation! I then decided I was going to get food, I had the pesto linguine with a chicken breast. The food was delicious. When asked if I could tip the chef and his name they were happy to tell me it was a young man called ‘Chris’ working that’s day. Fantastic food and Christ should be very proud of his work. Thank you again Chris! I have recommend it to my friends and family. This is the place to be
If I could give zero or minus I would. Attempted to go into the venue at at 7:45pm on a Saturday night; with my family celebrating my sisters 25th birthday… her boyfriend did not have ID granted so was refused entry.. he doesn’t even drink alcohol. Anyway, my point is the fact the so called “manager” has completely repulsive customer service and proceeded to shout in my face spitting with rage telling me to get out! I have never received such disgusting customer service, we were not given the time of day at all. Simply told to leave. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I was then pushed with force out the door when I then said the way I was shouted at was disgusting. Security and management are absolutely gross. Writing this as I leave. Trust me! Go round the corner for a better night out xxx
I was not sure what to expect from a pub and hotel in one. I have actually been very impressed. The room had everything you need from a tea/coffee making facilities to a TV. The shower was powerful too. The staff have all been very attentive and friendly. If you need to go to Swindon i would highly recommend this little gem.Rooms: 4/5
First visit with a friend, decided to try it for Sunday lunch. We both got the triple roast, beef, pork and turkey. Must say excellent food at the price only £12.50 pp we did splash out and extra few pound on the cauliflower cheese not disappointed loads of cheese. Great staff will def be going back.Service: 5/5
In response to your reply; ‘mum decided to leave too’ yes I did, obviously! I’m hardly going to stay somewhere that 1 has been incredibly rude to my daughter and family members, and 2 leave my daughter unaccompanied. What else was I supposed to do? You also state ‘the father of the child actually stayed at the function’ did he really? Amazing, as he wasn’t in attendance! He was at home with my younger child who we thankfully didn’t bring to your very unfriendly establishment. Why are you lying? And why are you also not addressing the more serious matter of DISCRIMINATION AGAINST A DISABLED PERSON?? She was told she was a ‘fire hazard and had to leave’ At least 6 people heard the lady state this and even when asked to repeat what she said as we couldn’t believe what we heard she commented ‘yes that’s right, you are a fire hazard and can’t stay’ This is totally unacceptable . The fact that you have overlooked this point now on not only mine but other peoples reviews, says a lot! ________________________________________ Attended a private function on Good Friday. Not only we’re the staff incredibly rude, couldn’t provide their licence to show us that my daughter wasn’t allowed on the premises something I have NEVER heard of at a private function but then told my sister in law that she wasn’t allowed in the function room due to her being disabled. WOW!! Never have I witnessed discrimination against a disabled person before. And to state on a review below that she left on her own accord is a lie. She was made to leave after being told she was a ‘fire hazard’ if she left on her own accord like you said, why the need to send in security?? Absolutely awful place. Emails have been sent to management and I really do hope you take the discrimination against a disabled person seriously and I think training of your staff of such issues should be carried out immediately.
I ussually never write reviews, but Goddard Arms Swindon is a hidden gem that should not be missed! From the moment we stepped in, we were impressed with the cozy and inviting atmosphere of the local pub downstairs. The night party was lively and full of village charm, and we had a fantastic time. But the real surprise came the next morning when we were treated to an incredible a la carte breakfast. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, with all the amenities we needed. We couldn't have asked for a better experience! If you're looking for a truly unforgettable stay, book with Goddard Arms Swindon today. You won't regret it!
Came in for breakfast, last week and was served by a really nice young man, Scott, I think? The food was fabulous, so tasty and Scott was extremely helpful, bringing my flat white over to the table! I was so happy, I brought the family back for Sunday lunch! Even though there was a wait just shows how good the food is! we were happy to chat and soak in the happy atmosphere, until our delicious lunch arrived. Can’t recommend this place enough…we will be back and bringing the dog next time too!
So was passing by few weeks ago.. the outdoor of the building caught my eyes. Nestled in the old part of the town, its a lovely place. The staff very welcoming, special mention to Suzanna very helpful from A to Z information about the area, knowledgeable about the hotel itself. Dinner was very good as well. I will definitely go back there very soon but this time will be my friends Thank you
