We’ve eaten here twice over the festive period and we weren’t disappointed. The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere cosy and traditional. We will be back again I’m sure! We returned again and enjoyed the beer battered fish and chips, salt and pepper Casheau nuts and warm soda bread and salted butter from the Hawarden estate.
We wanted to try somewhere new and had family visiting from overseas so we decided to come here for lunch today. What a wonderful place!! Absolutely loved the decor, the ambiance was great, the service was nice & the food was delicious. Everything we tried was good. Nice size portions. Great value. Attentive service. We will definitely return on a Sunday to taste their Sunday Roast. And the Lattes were DELICIOUS!!!
Everything in terms of service was very slow. Having to ask multiple people for the same thing as it never arrives! The waitresses didn't really care about providing a good service. The food was nice, I had the beef roast dinner but for the price I didn't think it was worth it! £22 for one roast is expensive! Atmosphere was nice but felt more like a coffee and cake vibe than sit down restaurant. Parking: Very tight entrance to get into.
Nice & clean, polite staff, good cup of real tea, tasty pea lovage & lettuce soup with a cheese scone, vegan. Lovely celeriac burger...dont know why but thought the celeriac burger was going to be made shredded & combined with something, it was a large thick sliced piece in batter, bit much for me but hubby ate all his,
Decoration is a mishmash of tastes. From brown mid century furniture to a bright pink Welsh dresser to the big heavy old curtain covering the front entrance door horrible Deer skulls nailed to the walls. Why does this establishment feel the need to use dead stuffed animals as decoration. I will not be revisiting this pub again.

Having been a number of times before, we were a little disappointed in the limited menu. Whilst the food was generally OK and service good, SWMBO was disappointed in the seasoning of her fish pie, which also lacked some smoked fish.Food: 3/5
Lovely building with tons of nice artwork and antique decorations. Food was sublime the lamb rump with lamb shoulder croquette was absolutely divine.Food: 5/5
The dog friendly pub is lovely, very limited menu though and my friend and I only choose cheese toasties which were extremely over cooked and greasy.
