2-day trip away: This restaurant was recommended by a local from where my mum and I were staying. Gorgeous setting with a lovely beer garden. Really friendly atmosphere with very welcoming staff. Cute, quaint place to stop for a drink or food. Although the food was yummy, it could have been top tier if the chips were home made. Highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic meals. The menu is comprehensive enough for the discerning eater, the produce a very good standard, excellently prepared, and served with a very friendly manner. We will certainly be back again soon. Top marks to the team!
Visited on a Saturday evening after pre booking. A delightful exterior and step into history in this wonderful old pub. A cheery greeting at the bar and plenty of choice of beverages then seated promptly. The menu was very good with specials available so we had squid, tiger prawns and pate to start and absolutely scrumptious and even offered extra toast for the pate which was appreciated as never had this offered elsewhere and always seem to have heaps of pate leftover. The waiting staff and Management were charming hosts and all our food arrived so quickly. We had the gammon, mussels and fish and chips for mains which were delicious and so generous in size. Only 2 of us could manage the sticky toffee pud with homemade creme anglaise and fruit meringue Wow! Wow! Well done and a 10/10 The Mulford and Starkey party.
First visit since reopening by new owners, Great welcome and service at the bar by a lovely young lady with a suggestion of where the 4 of us might be most comfortable to sit for our drink. The landlady made us even more welcome by lightning the fire. Refurbished ladies are fantastic looking forward to many more visits.
A lovely evening spent at this cosy, interesting country inn. The food was superb all freshly prepared and plenty of choices. We were made very welcome and look forward to returning this summer to enjoy and appreciate this beautiful location.
Unexpectedly top notch food, we're talking interesting and fresh options, not far off Michelin quality cooking. Try the fish of the day, you won't be disappointed. Full of character, like stepping back in time with low beams, candlelight, taxidermy, trinkets and attentive staff. We stayed at a nearby glamping spot and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and surroundings. Toilets were also marvelously clean
No dogs allowed and it is clear children are not welcome either. No children’s options on the menu and they would not even do smaller portions. There were some great fish specials on the menu and local meat but the food was overpriced and service very poor. We arrived to an empty pub for early dinner but were told we had to sit in the cold and dark ‘snug’ because we had not booked. Then we were essentially forgotten and had to frequently go to the bar to get service.
Fantastic pub /restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere ,warm olde worlde feel. Great service extensive menu of high quality food beautifully presented.Big seafood specials menu too. Good choice of beer and wines to accompany it. My wife and I enjoyed the best meal we have had out in a long time. Thoughroughly recommend you try this marvellous pub.
Top place for a calm relaxed atmosphere. A beautiful environment. I'd highly recommend anyone to come here for lunch / dinner. Thank you for being so welcoming. Superb food Service: 5/5
We phoned and booked ahead for lunch. When we arrived we were ushered to a table in a dark corner of the pub and as they were not busy and it was a beautiful day we asked if we could rather sit outside. This seemed to put the host out completely, clearly not happy with our request. Anyway had a lovely lunch in their lovely garden.
