We are holidaying in the area and found this pud online, menu for the kids made me smile. We booked a table for 5 and upon arrive the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and to honest were entertainment in themselves. Food was brilliant pies didn’t disappoint and the best seal of approval was the kids all cleared their plates. We had a great evening and will gladly return. This is how a good pub should be, somebody knows what they are doing.
Our first family Christmas lunch for 3. Starters - Salmon and Pate, both excellent. Turkey roast for main, all good and tasty - needed doggy boxes! Desserts, pudding with brandy custard and chocolate brownie with fantastic ice cream. Over 50s prices were amazing. Excellent value, great 80s playlist music, roaring fire. Couldn't fault it. Thank you.
Rang the Farms Boy on the off chance they could squeeze myself and better half in. 10 mins later we are sat in the gorgeous bar area looking at the menu. I went for a steak pie and she the 10oz steak. Both meals were amazing and the staff were great. Chef has been here for years and clearly very very good. Definable be back. Bravo
Stopped here on way back from Gloucester earlier today.Great food, the place to go for Great Pies.We ordered The Game Pie,Steak & Stout Pie.both were superb. Staff were verywarm, friendly and helpful great service. Really enjoyed our visit, would've loved dessert but the meals were so plentiful couldn't manage dessert. Thanks to all the staff at The Farmers Boy hope to see you again soon.
Just chanced upon this Gem! Only relocated here recently and took our first drive exploring the area, only to find the farmers boy in. The restaurant was closed but we were welcomed anyway and found the owner, Phil, as well as the staff accommodating & friendly. Enough that we booked in for the night to enjoy the Dinner in the Dark and one of the suites.
Stumbled upon this place and enjoyed the most delicious pie i have had in a long long time. Excellent quality food high quality meat and vegetables all cooked perfectly. The pie crust also very delicious light and flavourful. The meal itself is excellent value for money as it fills you up, you will not be leaving feeling like you havnt got your moneys worth, I personally felt under charged due to the food being so enjoyable. The Farmers Boy Inn itself is a lovely building very rustic felling pub, it is deceptively large and even has a well which has been made into a little feature. The hosts in this venue were very welcoming accommodating and warm. I genuinely felt like they were happy to have me there enjoying their food, very different to other places I have visited where I was made to feel like a burden. I would 100% recommend this as a place to visit if you have the chance. Best dining experience I have had in a very long time maximum score on all fronts.
We did not stay but had two evening meals, the second we had booked and thankful we had as very busy the second night. Even though probably ready to close up kitchen on first night, fed a hungry family and catered for all our needs as I am celiac, and they are fab for any diet. They really look out for the individual, nothing too much trouble, delicious food and great ambience. Very relaxing. The website does not lie, they cater for anyone, children very welcome, couples, chap on his own with headphones reading book and they are very good at seating you where it suits you. My son who is seven loved it and finds meals out boring, relaxed on a sofa and joined us when food ready. What a lovely place, it looks very normal and nice easy-going pub but don't be fooled this is more.
Had the most amazing meal here last night, food was fantastic especially the pies and the staff we so welcoming. Will definitely be back. Can't recommend highly enough! Vegetarian options: We had 1 Vegan and 1 Vegetarian in our party and the options were great!
On our weekend away in Gloucestershire we ate here twice and will definitely be back when back in the area. Their pies are a must try as they're absolutely fantastic!! We left full to the gunnels as we didn't want to leave any as they was so good!! Service was good and staff all very friendly. We will be back.
We were a big party for Christmas. The service was a little slow but friendly, and all the orders were right. Food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. Would definitely go again.Food: 5/5
