Whisky & Orange Fruit Cake - A friend spent a few days walking in the Lake District and gave me this cake as a present on her return. Unbelievably luscious, possibly the best fruit cake I've ever tasted ! It only lasted 5 minutes, I had a huge slice and husband and adult son gobbled up the remainder in a flash. Now all I need is to find a way of getting up to the Lake District without them knowing......
I've just received my first surprise! delivery from Ginger Bakers Cake Club - 4 amazing sour cherry and nut tray bakes, and very generous portions, a right result. I've encountered Lisa's cakes before and have always been blown away at how good they are so this was the best present I could have received at the beginning of a wet and cold January.
Excellent cakes, especially for their huge range of gluten free options which taste every bit as good. Very helpful people at the shop as well. Easy to pop in and collect from Plumgarth just outside Kendal, or walk over the fell to it as we did yesterday :-.
I placed a reasonably large order from here recently to be shipped to a different part of the country. Communication was great the whole time, and the luxury mince pies that we were giving out as charity gifts received fantastic reviews. Thank you.
We did a brownie course with Lisa at Ginger Bakers and one of her team Matt. It was great fun. We had a base recipe to work with and them could experiment with any or all of their wonderful ingredients. Great fun indeed and our flavour choices have proven to be delicious. We had enough time to make 2x large traybakes of brownies and blondies. Also left with more of their fantastic bakes for Christmas . If you're ever near Kendal, pop out to Plumgarths and visit!

Bought a £9, Gin, Clementine & Cranberry loaf cake and it was dry as a bone. Upon cutting it, it just fell apart and crumbled. Not worth the money.
My wife and I had a great morning doing the brownie making course at Ginger Bakers. Good fun and really well run, highly recommended.
