Foremost Veterinary Surgery in Wigan for over 20 years. We have built up a reputation of high quality veterinary care in a well equipped modern surgery within a beautiful Georgian style building.

The surgery offers a wide range of services including consultations, nurse clinics, surgery, pharmacy and pet food dispensing to name just a few. Home visits are available along side full hospitalisation in separate cat and dog wards. We offer a dedicated out of hours emergency service. We have easy access, a prominent location and a free car park at the rear of the building.

Fully trained and qualified Veterinary Nurses work alongside our four full time Veterinary Surgeons and dedicated reception staff, giving our clients friendly, caring and honest advice, ensuring our high reputation in the Wigan area and beyond.

I've been using these Vets for quite a number of years, and so has my family. I've never had anything but amazing treatment and advice and help and support. Every single person whom works here is amazing at what they do. Reception team, Nurses and Vets, everyone; they are literally the best. Nothing is too much trouble and they will go above and beyond to help, even through the most heartbreaking times, they have been supportive and caring. I can thoroughly recommend this Vets Practice. I cannot thank them enough for the care and advice they have given me and my dogs over the years. Would give 6   if I could.

I have been with Gilmores for a number of years and always had a 5 star service from walking in the door with friendly reception staff and caring vets who make you feel so comfortable discussing your pets care. George today offered such good advice for my cats to ensure they remain healthy and happy.

Have always relied on Gilmore vets to look after my dogs and they have never let me down always very helpful and welcoming and they love their job, going above and beyond to look after my four legged friends , even taking them out for a walk during overnight stay/ Thank you Charlotte! I travel quite a way to Gilmores but I wouldn't change to a different vet practice. We are always very well looked after by all the staff both dog and owners and feel that we get the best care and genuinely caring staff.

Our nearly 14 year old dog has been a patient since he was a pup and Gilmore's have been fantastic throughout, always listened to our concerns and treated him as if he were one of their own to a point that he drags me through the door as he can't wait to see them . Highly recommended, I wouldn't want to take him anywhere else.

Staff are amazingly friendly and very knowledgeable explained everything clearly at each stage and explained costs as was going along, most definitely put the welfare of the animals first. Would highly recommend this practice my dog is definitely in safe hands here.

Having visited with my dog I had been asked to review my experience which was less than favourable on the last two occasions. I received a letter giving 2 weeks notice to find a new vets after my dog has been there from pup. I believe this is tactical to no longer receive disappointing reviews. They shouldn’t have asked a question they didn’t want the answer to and should have used this information to better the service they provide. I would never take another animal to Gilmore Standish as they have no compassion or interest in improving the service they provide when it is lacking. Since this has been displayed publicly they have responded with a zero tolerance policy to abuse to staff members which I can say absolutely has never happened. I voiced my opinion in July about how disgusted and disappointed I was in the service I had received and the dated letter was 20/09/22 after my feedback was left when they requested it. Make of that what you will.

After a trip to emergency vets was given a horror story prognosis then referred to our regular vets Gilmore for follow up. Much more experience and much better outcome not the scary surgery as suggested and all options well explained

BEWARE YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF AT GILMORES Vets advised us to try an injection for our shih Tzu as she had been put on an antihistamine by one of their vets that she now can't come off,£45 per month after discount Quoted £65 after discount for the injection that would replace the tablets. After having the injection we were charged £83 after a discount with pet health club £17 per month When I queried the price we were rudely told that we had to pay for the nurses time £21 paid more than a heart surgeon £21 per minute & equipment used . Then to be told it would only start to work after the 2nd injection so to keep up with the tablets.  Absolute daylight robbery, they are making up prices and ripping people off.  You should be ashamed. I will be taking this further

Best vets in Wigan area!  Been coming here since 2001 and I wouldn't change vets for anything.  The care and professionalism is above and beyond, both the care of pets and their owners too.
