What happened? This place went from being a friendly local chippy where everything was cooked fresh to a god awful, bland takeaway where everything tastes like it's fried in the same old fishy oil. The 10 minute wait for a bag of chips used to be worth it, not any more. Edit: I originally gave George's one star after it re-opened. After a few repeated visits, I can see they have really turned things around. Great guys working there who really seem like they want the place to do well and have clearly listened to criticism and acted accordingly. The food is excellent and the refurb has really been great. I can safely say George's is in safe hands. Well done guys

Excellent. Great chips and lovely fresh fish. Having been a loyal fan of George's for many year, following George's heart attack it is under new management, I bought my first cod & chips after it reopened not knowing what to expect. Staff are really friendly. It's clean and the food is excellent. As good as ever if not bette!

Best fish and chips in town!! We absolutely love it and go back as a family all the time for the generous portions and cleanliness of this place. Also they use fresh fish, which is a bonus. Great atmosphere as well as friendly staff. They also take phone orders which is always handy.

I had a large fish and chips and it was exactly as I hoped it would be. The service was fast and friendly. Everything I want from a chip shop.
