The Gem is a traditional, family run fish n chip shop. Serving freshly cooked food. We offer a varied menu with the option of an alcohol or soft drink.

Story

Serving good quality food with our fish coming from a fully sustainable source. We are fully licensed, with a varied menu including: vegetarian, children’s, senior citizen’s meals (available all day) and desserts. There is a restaurant that can seat 45 welcoming reservations and a takeaway which food can be preordered for pick up.

Really great fish and chips.  I had haddock.  So fresh and the batter is light as a feather - like tempura.  Specials board mentioned seafood platter which we will try next time.  Good choice of local bottled beer, also wine and prosseco on offer !  Also of course soft drinks and tea and coffee.  Fantastic value.
The owner is wonderful; chatty, friendly and welcoming.  While we were they an elderly couple from New York were there with a local friend.  They had requested gift vouchers for the chip shop to be sent to their friend for Christmas.  That's how much they loved it last time they visited!

This is a traditional fish and chip shop that cooks excellent food. Dom and Helen, who run the shop, are a lovely couple who make you very welcome.
