I always love coming here for a brunch. Such a great selection of sweet / savory pastries. Very nice coffee as well. Been here many times, love it. If you're driving in. There is no place to park your car in the nearby streets except on a Sunday. It may become too busy to park as well on Sunday so be aware. It's just across Blackheath Station anyway so you have alternative.
Cafe does a great selection of cakes, patisserie items etc. The staff on site were great also. The hot drinks were not great! ordered a chai latte and a breakfast tea, chai tasted artificially sweet and very bitty at the same time. Tea was meh! Great staff, great cakes, great location. Will try again next time.
Great range of cakes and patisseries both sweet and savoury. Staff are very nice and we were served quickly. It's a bit pricey and the music is a little loud, which made it difficult to have a comfortable conversation. Latte was a little weak and luke warm. The hot chocolate was served in a very small cup with no handle, a bit strange! One cup had a crack in it leaking coffee over the table. Staff changed it and gave us a free cake, which was nice.
Decent bakery, prices are a little more expensive. Considerable difference between takeout and dine in prices.
Gail’s never lets you down. I love their cinnamon rolls, their small fresh sandwich’s made fresh each morning and the coffee is solid as well. Always a nice buzz to the place and worth stopping in to buy your weekly bread if you appreciate good quality food
Queued up outside this place for over 45 minutes during lockdown placed an order only to be told they won’t accept cash as I didn’t have my bank card with me. Pleaded and literally begged them just to this once after a 45 minute wait and they refused. So I will never on my time on this planet ever eat or purchase or recommend Gail’s. What a sad pathetic company that’s lost a regular customer. Perhaps your members of staff should have been Wearing face masks and wear gloves when handling other people’s food. Thanks Gail
I have eaten in many cafes I've in France but nothing can beat Gale's food. Nor one not 2 but every item on the menu is delicious. Top top quality. Its a bit expensive but worth the price tag. Every time I'm in blackheath I make sure i eat at Gales.
I’ve visited Gail’s tonight at around 6 pm. I was with a friend who highly recommended it as she’s used to go to this shop often. While the pastries we bought were really good, the service was highly disappointing. Not only the lady at the counter that served us didn’t say hi when we arrived, but we were also rushed despite there wasn’t any other customer waiting we stayed in the shop no more than 4 minutes total…. She also looked very annoyed at anything we were asking also when we asked to have the bread sliced with the automatic machine. Cherry on top…we left saying bye…and she didn’t event turn to acknowledge that or to say bye as well. Is it normal at this shop?!? Deserves no stars…
I have wanted to visit Gail's last year but couldn't because of the lockdown. As it is open for takeaway, I decided to visit. Tried their Cinnamon roll for the first time and immediately fell in love with it . It was baked to perfection. Deliciousness at it's best I went again and got another one along with hot chocolate. This was the best hot chocolate I have had in London so far. I have only been in London for a year and mostly in lockdown but it was the best I had so far. If you are in Greenwich park, it's a short walk. Don't miss it.
It's a nice place to get a pastry, but the coffee is poor. I've tried making it shorter, adding shots etc. but it always remains weak and unsatisfying. It used to be OK, but perhaps they're cutting costs and reducing the amount of coffee they use, or else using a different brand.
