Free Derry Corner is one of Northern Ireland’s most iconic political landmarks, famous for the mural reading “You Are Now Entering Free Derry,” first painted in 1969. It’s worth visiting to better understand the Troubles and the struggle for civil rights in Derry.

It’s iconic 32 Ireland
A must-visit for all who want to learn significant Irish history. It can be very crowded with tourists and school groups so parking can be difficult, but if visiting from out of town it's not a far walk from anywhere in Derry. We visited on our own and found it easy to navigate the murals and history, but the city offers many different tour options for those who'd like a guide. Was quite emotional to read and feel the history in the atmosphere.
