Totally recommend a day trip (or half) depending on where you're coming from. I have been here a few times around Easter for the Stations of the Cross walk which must be one of the best in the Country (if not World). There is a lovely, cosy cafe (will be closed Mondays from the end of April), personal service, 'posh' tea, cakes and coffee's (ie more choice than the standard and well presented). There are even paintings on the cafe wall. There is a small church and graveyard. So whether you are seeking spirituality or not (but I think you will be entranced by the atmosphere of the place) it's worth visiting.

Went to the Monastery in August this year. I visit here twice a year, I always do the Stations of the cross walk, not because I am religious but because the walk is so peaceful as it meanders through the forest. The summit is stunning and being in the thick of the trees gives a sense of being in the heart of nature. I have spotted rabbits and a fox on several occasions. The cafe is very reasonable and the cakes are homemade. The Church next door is also well worth a visit, just to see its stunning marble alter, there is no charge but I always leave a few coins to the collection tin for its up keep. Really love this place!
