This beautiful castle sits in picturesque surroundings. Built by thr Norman's in the late 12th century it's had a long history, with it eventually becoming a home for the poor in the 17th.nnIt's played a huge part in English history, Mary Tudor used Framlingham to rally support and eventually take the throne from Lady Jane.nnMary became the first queen of England, although Lady Jane was technically queen for 9 days!nnThe castle is great to explore, walk around the top of the walls and look down and around at the surroundings. Very informative information panels are dotted about.nnPlenty of car parking, free for members! Polite staff and clean toilets.
This is a well maintained castle that you can walk around at your leisure, it is pretty much an access all areas place where you an walk around the walls and the various buildings within that contain static exhibits regarding the history of the castle and the area.nThe staff as expected are excellent.nThe cafe is excellent with a good selection of food and drinks, toilets are fresh and clean and there's plenty of parking.
Framlingham Castle is a fantastic visit — beautifully preserved, full of history, and offering stunning views from the walls. Great for families, history lovers, or anyone looking for a scenic and educational experience.n+ they have nice selection of souvenirs!
A lovely castle to walk around the high wall. Also a little wander around the perimeter was nice to see it from a different angle. The cafe and museum were both good as well. Not much going on with the inside space of green grass. Also they had repair works in place which prevented us going the whole way round. Its also 100% dog friendly which was great! Even up on the wall.
Lovely few hours spent here walking around the castle and the grounds lovely view from the top going around. Have 2 little exhibition room. We did the guided tour which was good. Not a whole day thing but we had fun
