Fantastic tour given by Sarah and Nathan today & we enjoyed the delicious tastings so much we left with two bags of goodies from the shop!! Thoroughly recommend...We all found it very interesting and lovely that they made my ten year old feel so welcome too!nnHighly recommend if you are in the Lostwithiel area! Free tour runs certain days and can be booked via Fowey Valley Cider website!
While staying near Looe, a visit was arranged for us to the Fowey Valley Cidery & Distillery. It's is on an industrial estate by the river in Lostwithiel. Don't be put off....the tour is great and free. The business is a small operation, and everybody turns their hands to at least four jobs. It tries to be as green as possible and is part of the local Cornish food scene. We had a very good insight into how the products were made. NB, the apples and the water are locally sourced. They also do classes into gin making.nOur guide was funny and very informative. We ended up in the bar, tasting all the products from the vintage cider to gin, cider spirit they can't call it Calvados or apple brandy, and apple chutney.nAll the products tasted were very, very good. Pleasant surprise, they do courier deliveries.nAll in all, it's worth a visit even if you're some distance awaynNB, if approaching from the east, the entrance to the Restormal industrial estate is on a bend after the railway bridge and before the bridge over the river. Be careful, or you might have to turn left with some serious angles!
Fabulous visit to a fantastic small batch cider producer. Their talk on how they produce cider was informative and great fun.nnAmazing that their cider production is zero waste the apple rejects and pulp is used as animal feed ir turned into fertiliser and gets a lot of support from the local community who supply some if the apples that go into their cider.nnTheir gin and apple whisky is also really good.nnDefinitely worth popping in and sampling their wares.nnThis is how cider should taste.
We had such a lovely day at the distillery!!nIt was so much fun. Incredible products, definitely one of the best gins I've had.nnWe did the gin making course; you spend an informative afternoon learning how to make gin, and even get to choose your own aromatics mix and make your own bottle to take home, really really cool.nnThe team there are SO kind and generous, they really went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable afternoon. And definitely stop at the shop on your way out!
Brilliant tour delivered by Nathan who was very informative and charming. We’ve been to lots of distillery/brewery tours and this was up there with the best. The cider and produce is top class, don’t hesitate to book a visit if in the area. We are already planning our next! Thanks Nathan and Fowey valley Cider. Paul and Joy.
