This is a lovely little station with really helpful staff. It is located right next to Morrisons, which is perfect for 3 hours of free parking. There are two gift shops inside the station one called The Signal Box, which is dedicated to Harry Potter and the Jacobite Steam Train and is run by a lovely lady.nThe station staff allowed us access to the platform to take photos of the train as we couldn't get tickets. If you arrive on the day you wish to travel at 8:30am you will have a chance of getting on the train.
Like everyone Ii too came for the Jacobite Steam Train, Or Hogwarts Express as it's better know.nWas it worth it? Yes!nThe views along the journey are stunning all the way!nTravel first-class if you can, it's absolutely worth it. Really great experience. And that's just for the luxury of the old, before harry potter stuff!nnBut this is also meant to be about the station, its a nice old station with space on platform.
This was a lovely experience, but there is definitely room for improvement. The toilets looked a bit run down, and the carriages could do with a little more cleaning each day to get rid of all of the coal dust that finds its way in.nnDon't bother with the afternoon tea as it's a waste of money. For £27 you get a boxed afternoon tea for 1 person, which contains 4 tiny sandwiches, 1 small scone jam and cream, and a couple of little bits of cakes.nnOn a more positive note all the staff were really friendly and you got complimentary tea and coffee. The views are incredible. On a lovely day, you can easily while away the time in Malig before coming back.
Lovely little station, staff were friendly and helpful.nPlatform was clean and tidy.nNice coffee shop to have a drink and snack before the train ride.nToilets were closed so people had to walk over to Asda.nThere is some free parking but it is very limited.
This station is a total mess! My partner and I stayed in a hotel nearby and had to check out at 11am so I was naturally looking for some type of luggage storage. When we went to check out the lockers at the station, ALL OF THEM were out of order there were around 50 lockers there. We were stranded with our bags until 5pm. Horrendous!!!
