Great location, fantastic views. The cabins are starting to show their age. Signs of little to no maintenance. Issues ranging from shower that either wants to burn or freeze you, fans that don't work, noisy toilet that could wake the dead, doors that don't close/lock u less in a particular position. The hot tub is well maintained, checked daily through our visit. Also I do appreciate they're in business to make money but everything was an added extra. Including a fee for each dog we took. Nothing extra was received for this fee. It isn't a cheap daily rate either. In its day this would have been a great stay. A bit of love and possibly a review of fees and it will be again. If businesses want us to stay in this country to holiday. They need to compete with abroad pricing. It took us nearly 3 hours to drive in two cars. I could fly to Spain for less than the cost of the fuel used. I could also have got all inclusive for less than the price to stay.
On arrival the check in process was simple and easy. Note company policy states you need to register a payment card on arrival. The main reception was in the shop which had a range of food and beverages, along with the usual souvenir purchases. The staff are very friendly and professional. Very accommodating and pleasant at all times. The cabins are well situated and plenty of space for everyone. The cabin layout golden oak was good and the living area ample. The raised decking was nice and the spa and bbq were on there too, plenty of space to sit out there for meals or chill in the sun. We didn’t visit the restaurant / bar but it looked okay, appeared to be busier at night. If your planning activities at the centre it’s worth booking in advance. Or at least when you check in. For our visit most activities were not available due to staff absence which meant the one we booked on had limited spaces naturally. The zip lining was good fun and lasted about an hour, 100m line that you climb up a large tree to then come down the line, depending how quick everyone is and how big the groups is you should get to go down 2-3 times. The instructor was great with everyone and really took time with the children to assure them. This was the first time on a family visit to forest holidays and following this visit likely to visit one of theirs sites again.
We have just arrived back from a 3 day stay at the Forest Holiday resort in Kelby. After reading a few disappointing reviews before we left and feeling a little apprehensive, before our arrival … I’m so pleased that we ignored them, as our family of 4 had an amazing time!!! A warm welcome upon arrival and from all members of staff throughout our stay and everything we needed to start our holiday. The cabin was spacious, modern, clean, warm and the hot tub was clean and ready to go!!! Our cabin had amazing views all around even from the bathroom. I have always wanted to stay in a cabin in the woods and I can honestly say that this has lived up to my expectations and more!!! Bins provided to encourage recycling and complimentary toiletries were environmentally friendly. There was also x2 free to use charging points on site. We have come away feeling in touch with nature whilst also, having spent lots of quality time with our family-just what was needed. We will definitely be returning. Thank you xx
Absolutely fantastic. It's the second Forest Holidays site we have stayed at and we were definitely not disappointed. Immaculately clean and well maintained lodge was spacious enough for our family of four and the convenience of being able to park adjacent makes getting your gear to and from the car a doddle. With plenty of nice relaxing walks in the woods to suit all abilities you don't really need to leave the place. When we went it was raining all week and the unmistakable scent of the forest was at full strength which I enjoy but it did make it a bit slippery underfoot - I would highly recommend going prepared if you're planning walking. Food was nice and using the takeaway delivery service highly recommended. So convenient and reasonable price too. Breakfast in the forest retreat was absolutely gorgeous. Only thing I would say is that the cabins we stayed in seemed a bit closer to others than at the other site I stayed at so the hot tub wasn't all that private. I imagine during the summer when the trees have more leaves this would improve.
We celebrated a birthday here, it was a very beautiful experience! The house is a tiny bit cold downstairs, as there is only one heater for the entire large room, and that is about the only minus in this place. We stayed in the cabin with one room upstairs and a double bedroom downstairs. In fairness, I chose to sleep on the sofa There is a cafe and restaurant and gift shop, and most importantly THEY DELIVER to your cabin. We tried pizza and burgers and curry and everything tasted great. We went for a quick walk and did the zipwire. There are several different types of walks and each is catered to your strength. We only saw some forest chickens, but I'm sure if we stayed longer we could have spotted a deer or a badger...
This was our third visit to Keldy. Unfortunately, the cabins felt dated, shabby and in need of a deep clean, especially when compared to other Forest holiday destinations. It is only the forest location and the fact it is dog friendly that makes it attractive. If I was returning to the local area I would look at a cottage rental.
Had an amazing time last year in December! It was so relaxing and peaceful! The hot tub under the evening stars and a log burner to keep the cabin nice and cosy for evening cuddles!! Waking up to the sound of nature is always a beautiful thing to the ears! It was a lovely week to get away from the world and just enjoy the surroundings of the forest! The little coffee shop is always open with the fire on making it lovely and cosy! Dog friendly which is a big YES!! The ladies and gentlemen working are always friendly and helpful! Really made my stay! When I checked in, I was told that the cabin wasn't ready which isn't a big thing the lovely lady told me that I had a coffee waiting for me on the house whilst they get the cabin sorted!! Again!! Not a big thing but was really generous and thoughtful! The little things go a long way and even though the lady didn't have to offer, she did and it just made the experience more welcoming so thank you!! I've now made it a thing that every year in December I spend a week of reflection and me time at Forest Holidays! Would highly recommend for a little get away! I'll be seeing you this December
We booked for a Friday to Monday, The actual cabin and hot tub were lovely set in a lovely forest with beautiful surroundings. We ordered food to the cabin on the Friday night , we got the pizza night, the pizza base was not cooked enough with then resulted in us both not being so well in the morning, during our Saturday we had a surprise visit from what looked like someone checking the hot tub, I would recommend they knock on the door first before coming on to the decking as the front is all glass and not great when you relaxing on the sofa after a shower in your towel, also recommend they take there chlorine tablet packaging with them instead of leaving it on the floor, could be an issue for small children, night two we ordered the burger deal to our cabin in hope that night one was a one off, unfortunately it wasn't and out chicken burgers were very pink inside, our brownies and donuts were very hard as of they were not very fresh. Od advise to take food and make your own to avoid disappointment, we checked out on Sunday at 10:30am the day before we should have, when I explained why I was greeted with did you have a bill , and ok pay here please. She seemed more bothered about getting me to pay my bill than what our problem had been and why we were going a day early. Probably wouldn't go here again but may try other locations.
Honestly don't bother, there are far better places across the country and in the area, if your happy to shower in a caravan shower, have more rules in place of do's and don't than a primary school, zero flexibility from staff, the worst welcome I've ever experienced, more loophole to make you cough up more money than you did to begin with for example Internet if you want it u can pay 60 quid for it otherwise deal with dial up, a hot tub you don't control as it locked as you may be to stupid to adjust the temperature so its set for you, we won't be back ever. Lesson learned.
Lovely location, shame about the lodge! Paid nearly £1600 for a 5 days stay in a luxury cabin nothing luxury about it found the cabin to be quite tired in many areas needing a proper clean. First time using the shower it started to flood and we had to unblock the plug with the toilet brush and what came out can only be described as a dead cats worth of rank hair! Ordered a pizza from the site which was nearly £20 and they have the nerve to charge you an extra £2.75 to deliver it to the cabin which is about a 5 minute walk. The hot tub maintenance man turns up any time of the day and just let's himself into the decking area where my 2 dogs are running free and I'm sat on the sofa having just woke up looking like something out of The night of the living dead.safe to say we won't be coming back!
