Would have liked to have given it 5 stars as the burger was lovely but a few things need improving. - portion size chips could be bigger considering that I paid £20 for one course and a soft drink - staff could be more attentive as it took a while to be served - the menu online needs to be updated as I was after something in particular that they no longer serve when I arrived chicken and mushroom pie Overall good and sophisticated pub
Came in on Sunday for roast for my birthday. Food was terrible, cauliflower cheese was undercooked, and, to be honest looked microwaved. Yorkshire pudding was so hard I cut it and it flung off my plate. I ordered the veggie roast, my partner the beef, he ordered a side of beef dripping potatoes and they were divided on both our plates as when I complained that the potatoes were brown after the meal the manager told me that’s because they were beef dripping ones…. On my vegetarian roast. Not happy at all. I did speak to our waitress who got the manager but she wasn’t interested and gave us £4 off the bill. Our waitress was serving the people behind us and whilst they were looking at the menu she was wiping her nose with her hand. As I have see on here I will get a reply from the business saying we are sorry for your experience but that’s not good enough, you have given someone who has ordered a vegetarian roast meat options.
Don't be fooled by how close this is to a road, it isn't noisy and is a beautiful pub! We went for lunch and it was great. Excellent customer service from all staff, someone to greet you at the entrance and then the table service was second to none. Had the hunters chicken and was pleasantly surprised at their use of a very nice tomato sauce rather than BBQ sauce, along with extremely tender and nice chicken. Plenty of parking.
Half of the menu was unavailable. Staff chatting at the end of the bar. No ice. And this was £23 served with broccoli instead of green beans and no red wine jus. This really isn’t the Vintage Inn experience we are used to at other venues. I did think it odd how quiet the place was on a Saturday night, but after visiting it made total sense. The 5 star reviews are being left by people with zero previous reviews - very suspicious.
Called in for just a midday drink and stayed for a pizza lunch. We received a warm welcome in this authentic country pub set back from the road in an idyllic setting. There was an excellent range of drinks and some lovely food. We sat in the family and particularly dog friendly garden. We have never before been to a pub with a jar of dog treats freely available for your best friend. We shared a delicious Cajun chicken pizza with a bowl of chips. Just enough for a quick snack. The menu had lots of equally tempting dishes on offer. Along with the cozy and well decorated bars and the excellent service it was a very enjoyable break in our journey
Had a lovely birthday meal with my mum and daughter. Food was great, the service was a bit slow though, but everyone was friendly and helpful.
Nice meal. Chloe was very polite. Fire lit for us as cold day. Will return
Went to The Flying Fox last night 16/11/2023. The environment was nice and clean, and it was very welcoming. The manager on duty was very polite. However, the service was slow. The meals that we ordered were very underwhelming when served up. There wasn’t any garnish on the plate. I ordered the ribeye steak, which was delicious. However, the restaurant had ran out of ‘homemade onion rings.’ I just had half a tomato, and I wasn’t offered anything to replace the missing onion rings. For near £22.00 I expected more. My husband and son had the Hunters Chicken - which tasted delicious. However, again, no garnish or vegetables. I think that the head chef Fiona and her team, need to revise the menu and make sure, that everyone gets value for money.
I took my wife and son who has disability to this pub for lunch. It was a very unpleasant experience. Initially i had to wait for about 10 minutes at the bar to be served as they had a problem with their draught cider. Not a problem, they took our order and we sat down waiting for our meal. After another 30 minute wait, the family on the table next to us were given their meals and yet they arrived after us. We asked where our food was. The waiter apologised and quickly bought our food. We asked for tomato sauce and we were given a bottle that was basically empty. See photo!!. The family on an adjoining table gave us their sauce bottle. When another waiter asked how the meal was, I told her that the cod was luke warm and the mushy peas were cold. It appears that the fish had been put under a warmer lamp as the green cress or similar had wilted. The meal was not nice. The waiter offered to replace the food but i said that we could not wait another 30 minutes for another meal. She said the restaurant was busy and there was nothing she could do. My wife went to the ladies and the floor was sticky with an unknown substance. We would not have minded waiting if the food was of good quality but to pay nearly £50 for a meal that was poor is unacceptable. To be given an empty bottle of tomato sauce for a family of thee was appalling and the attitude if the lady waiter was not customer friendly
Walked out as service was so slow, starters took an hour and a half to come out and it came out all burnt. It was an Xmas party for 12 people, not a single person enjoyed it, we didn't bother waiting for mains, just went somewhere else. As we were walking out the chef came out and acted quite aggressively towards my friend, my friend was only pointing out the faults to the manager and why we were walking out.
