In fairness to this store, the selection of acoustic guitars is decent. It also has some nice books for learning various instruments. The selection of electric guitars is fairly limited though. The problem with this store is the owner. On multiple occasions I have been in there and have asked questions. Meera did not make me feel welcome at all, quite the opposite. She was rude, made me feel like I was wasting her time and worst of all offered little to zero useful information on anything guitar related. I was totally shocked to hear that she was in charge and owned the store. I wouldn't expect such a lack of professionalism even from somebody just doing work experience there, let alone the actual owner. Do yourself a favour and don't grace this establishment with your presence or your custom. The music industry doesn't need people like this succeeding just because they are one of the only two stores in town (speaking of which, 'Remade Guitars' under Coxeter House is run by one of the nicest and most knowledgeable men I have ever met).

This is without a doubt one of the worst stores I have ever had the misfortune of visiting. I was sold a defective guitar which costed an excess of 200 pounds (the bottom few strings rattled like crazy whenever I strummed them), so I took the guitar back to the store to have it mended. After two weeks, I received a phone call from the woman working there telling me to collect the guitar, so I went over and brought my guitar home. However, to my great dismay, after returning home I discovered that the problem had still not been fixed. So I took the guitar back to the store (for the 3rd time in 3 weeks) to resolve the issue. Not only did the woman working there prove to be unhelpful and insulting (she tried to blame the rattling problem on my 'poor technique'), she also refused to give me a refund (despite the fact that I was entitled to one under the Sales of Goods Act 1979 as she sold me a faulty good). The best she could offer me was an exchange, so I proceeded to test out the rest of the guitars in the store to find a suitable one. However, I discovered that shockingly, all the guitars in the 200 pound price range in the store suffered to a degree the exact same rattling problem that my original guitar had suffered from. The only guitars exempt from this were the expensive Martins, which costed at least 700 pounds and were way beyond my affordability. I ended up swapping my guitar for another of equally poor quality, making significant loss in the meantime as the new guitar was considerably cheaper than the original. In all fairness, I should have tested out the guitar more thoroughly prior to my purchase (though even if I did, I wouldn't possibly have been able to identify the rattling problem anyway as I was not provided a pick), but that still does not excuse her exceedingly discourteous and unprofessional attitude she displayed throughout the entire time. DO NOT VISIT THE STORE. If you wanna get a guitar, go to the guitar shop in Oxford instead!

Complacent and arrogant customer service. We bought a beginner classical guitar for our son from Fine Guitars. We chose to give this local shop our custom, even though I could have sourced the same guitar cheaper from PMT guitars in Oxford. As he is left handed we paid an extra £20 to have the guitar restrung and reprofiled. Another guitar shop I rang said they would do this for free, but Fine Guitars assured me there was quite a bit of work involved. It took a whole week for the guitar to be ready. When we got it home, my son played it for less than 1 minute before one of the strings came off. I took it back into Fine Guitars because it seemed likely that this string had not been properly tightened up. The female assistant took it off me without a word, took it to the back of the shop and re-attached the string, then spent about 5 minutes retuning all the strings. She then handed it back without a word of apology or a smile and said "it should be OK now". Now I know guitar strings come off and go out of tune, and now we have a guitar we'll learn how to fix this. But when I pay £20 to have a guitar set up, it should be set up and playable which this one clearly wasn't. The assistant then proceeded to argue with me about whether the shop had done a satisfactory job or not and she clearly had no concept of how to deal with an unhappy customer. A very grudging apology without any sincerity at all came after I suggested it would appropriate and the assistant declined to refund the £20 despite poor quality of the work done and my inconvenience. I was told that the guitar had been fine when it left the shop. Now I'm a busy person and I don't have time on my Saturdays to complain for nothing, or write reviews on Google, so you can see that I didn't have a positive experience at Fine Guitars. Avoid.

There is a nice selection of good priced quality guitars. Some are well know brands but others are very special new brands that I had not heard of I took a shine to an Emerald Guitar X5. It had a great tonal range, both acoustic or electro acoustic through an amp, The lovely lady owner was very knowledgeable and friendly. I intend to visit again soon.
