Mum spent the last 5 years of her life in Fieldhead Park and despite other poor reviews, I have nothing but praise for the staff. We were kept informed of developments when needed, staff were always pleasant and obliging even though they were constantly run off their feet. Would I be happy living out my final years at Fieldhead Park ..... Already got my room booked
Mum has just spent 6 days at Fieldhead Park for respite care. When I took her there she was extremely reluctant to go. I have just picked up a very different mum - when I arrived she was walking back to her room unaided clearly knowing where it was. She then told me what a lovely time she had just had and was laughing and happy. Unfortunately, due to Alzheimer's, I will never know from her what she did between drop off and pick up. But it was clear to see that she was happy and well and had a visit to the hairdresser.. I cannot ask for more than that. Thank you to the staff at Fieldhead Park for making her stay a very pleasant one.
My Dad went here when my Mum was taken into hospital. She needed end of life care and they took her without a thought so Mum and Dad could be together for their last days. After 72 years of marriage, Fieldhead staff gave Mum and Dad their last days together. Dad is still a resident, but the gift this home gave us this year is priceless.
My experiences visiting this home have been upsetting. Some staff are caring but others are cold and not carers at all. There is no communication from the manager who is not responsive to concerns. My father was threatened by an agency worker with physical violence and although investigated by safeguarding, the home did not appear to take my dad's word seriously on this. He has had his buzzer taken away from him because he needed to toilet. He has also been told several times by senior staff that they are getting rid of him, in front of all other residents making him feel low and upset. They carried on with a campaign against him and kicked him out, abusing the NHS by sending him in hospital and then saying they wouldn't have him back. This was the doctors opinion as he did not need to be there. I'm glad he is out of this place. I am a registered manager with CQC and would never see my residents treated in this way or be unapproachable.
The room was cold there was no heating when it was snowing because the heater was broken. The buzzers were ringing none stop the staff did not seem interested there were laughing and joking in the office The place is a joke and the residents are dying due to not enough staff and not enough care. The place was reopened to soon after a superbug spread though there resulting in the death of a friend when he ended up with sepsis and pneumonia
I happen to notice that it only seems that it is the staff who give this dump 5 stars? maybe this has something to do with the fact that they are getting paid! Absolutely criminal!!!! This place should be closed and the staff and management staff should be held on criminal charges. Leaving patients in the middle of winter undressed notwithstanding, is already disgusting enough, it seems to be a culture of no care. All these so called "carer's" care about is getting home with their pay with no consideration to the people in their care. These aren't professionals, they are clowns! I wouldn't stick my worst enemy here. My recommendation. .. try somewhere else because this place doesn't do anything apart from mis-diagnose and take cheques for nothing!!!! I would strongly recommend to anyone reading that this place should be independently investigated.
This place is something eles my mum went here nearly 5 wks ago with dementia, was told she was a handful and wanted it to be her final place , yes we can cope ,we'll on mum collapsing and been taking to hospital she spent 20 hrs in a& e all because this place said wouldn't taake her back disgraceful can nit belive what they have done left with nowhere to go ..don't not send you loved ones here plz
A dear friend went into this place to be looked after and two days later was dead. Do NOT use this home. If you value loved ones, please do not put them in here. Be WARNED
Avoid avoid avoid at all costs..the place wants shutting down and bordering up for good,it doesnt care for the wellbeing of its residents as in one room on the coldest night of the year the heating didnt work.The people that "run" this so called joke of a place are only interested when the money rolls in and are oblivious to the basic health and hygiene laws as the place was shut down for contracting a superbug earlier this year...dont let anymore innocent people die there and put your loved ones somewhere they can live with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Would not put your loved ones in hear I hear they would much rather joke about animal parts that take care of the patients in their care that's how sick they are my friend lost her dad coz of these sick peoople who are meant to look after patients but they neglect them instead
