Ferry House Inn
"Secreted-away in perhaps the most idyllic corner of Kent, you’ll find The Ferry House in the hamlet of Harty. Surrounded by farmland, two nature reserves and salt-marshes crisscrossed with fleet waters, this beautiful 16th century venue is home to our AA Rosette country restaurant and stylish guest rooms. Also a stunning barn wedding and events venue, our unrivalled views over the river estuary and award-winning catering make it the perfect place for the best of ‘big days’.We cultivate the bountiful landscape to home-grow fresh fruit, veggies and herbs in our large kitchen garden - also foraging the Harty estate and shoreline. All our beef comes from our local family farm, while our menu’s signature game-birds wander the estate wild."

My wife, two sons and our dog spent a night here this week. Our room was really well decorated, very comfortable and clean. Our dog was well looked after with her own bed and dog treats. Lovely view over the estuary. Service was first class, with staff going the extra mile, and the food was fantastic. Delicious veggies, fish and meats. Very impressed. Kid-friendliness: Kids lived their child’s meals. Great that the same emphasis was put on locally sourced ingredients for the kids too.
We chose The Ferry House as our wedding venue because there were beautiful options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies -- never know what to expect weather wise-- and it was the best decision we've ever made. Low-stress, delicious food, amazing staff, and lovely rooms. We had guests in the pub rooms and the coach house rooms; not one complaint. The bridal suite was an excellent place to catch my breath before the ceremony, I only wish I'd been able to use the lush whirlpool tub. We've left more detailed reviews on wedding specific sites but if you are reading this and considering The Ferry House as a venue: do it. 'Perfect' is an understatement.
Came here for a Valentine's dinner and stay. The taster menu was wonderful, and I thought good value at £55. The service was really good and very friendly. The room was lovely, really clean with a four poster bed and lovely views, only downside was it was so hot in the room and we couldn't open the window, could have asked I know, but we just switched the radiator off. Beautiful views at sunset, would highly recommend.
We have eaten here a number of times and it is one of our favourite places to eat. On our last visit however the food let it down. The steak had too much gristle and the fat chips were not to our taste. We love the fact the menu changes with the seasons but it was lacking that special something this time. We know they can do better and have done a number of times before. Faultless service though as always.
I really can't recommend The ferry house enough. Tucked away in the middle of next to nowhere it really is something special. I've stayed a couple of times for work at this point, and the combination of reasonable rooms during the week, superb food and spectacular scenery means I'll always take a look if I'm in the area. While the food is a set menu only two courses minimum and seems quite expensive initially, the value is overwhelming especially when coupled with the sheer quality of the dishes. The staff have always been a delight and are both knowledgeable about the ingredients, which are sourced locally where possible, and up for a chat if you want that sort of thing. If you're pushed on time, make sure you wander down the track for a superb view of the Thames estuary from a more quiet spot than you're used to. If you've got a bit more freedom, then definitely take a walk along the bridleways that follow the river and are easily accessible from a track just opposite the pub. You can follow the river as far as you'd like, with the next village over being the easiest stop. Would give a 10/5 if I could, and will no doubt be back again soon.
Absolutely stunning the whole place in general is a def place to go too, the staff are excellent the food was excellent the atmosphere was beautiful they have a log fire burning which adds to the atmosphere and feel of the place. out side its so so quiet you could hear a pin drop! a perfect place to get away too for a peaceful break.Food: 5/5
Had a lovely afternoon at The Ferry house. The staff were helpful and friendly. The wedding fair was just what my daughter needed to help put her at ease. The staff gave her all the information she needed.Food: 5/5
Went to have a look at the Ferry House as a wedding venue and well, it was definitely a WOW!!!! also, decided to have a meal as well.....we all had the burger and the parmasan fries, it was gorgeous! The service was fantastic, very attentive......only negative really was that the restaurant was gastro and the menu a little bit posh for me.....but i cannot fault the place and the team that work there..... Parking: Parking is plentiful, 3 car parks Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, ramps where needed
Whilst on walk had a lovely lunch. Excellent quality lunch small plate menu. Welcoming staff and great views.
Great wedding venue i have photographed here a couple of times! It’s in a secluded location with amazing views and amazing food The ceremony is beautiful both inside and out which is always a bonus Lemonade Pictures x
