Ate here on the weekend for the first time ...Absolutely gorgeous food, compliments to the chef/chefs! The service was spot on, and the place itself was lovely, warm, and cosy. We had 3 courses and each course was delicious. It is very reasonably priced, and there was plenty of choice on the menu. There was also a vegan menu available. It's definitely a must if visiting Pitlochry, We ate in a few places while we were here, but this was the best by far! Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options in the menu. Parking: If arriving by car...go past Fern Cottage through the traffic light, and there is a car park on the left paid parking...there is free parking on the main street but there is a time limit.
A lovely little place. We were positively surprised by the vast menu options and the choice of fresh local ingredients. The food was tasty and with that homely twist to it. The place was very busy so probably better book it in advance.
We sat outside and had lunch here on a sunny day. There were seated areas in the shade as well as the sun depending on what you prefer, the views across into the memorial garden were lovely. Service was quick, the food was tasty with good helpings. I had the halloumi burger which was cooked perfectly and my husband had fish and chips. The fish and chips came with a little spritz bottle with freshly squeezed lemon saving getting messy fingers and pips on your food.
Fern Cottage was a delight. At attention to detail, from the restaurant lay out to the uniform of the staff. The food was excellent. Best to book, we visited on a Friday night and it filled up as the night went on. Value for money, a must visit if in Pitlochry.Food: 5/5
Excellent food. We got the last booking so make sure you book in advance you don't want to miss out. Plus an added bonus of Birds and bee's bottle ale my favourite. Would definitely go back when I go to Pitlochery.
Nice eatery off the main street. Pretty quiet outside as there is a park across the street. The Mediterranean platter was nice, varied, and tasty. The goat cheese bon bons are tasty but not very large but it is a starter. The service was good and efficient. Not a lot of options for the vegan in your group
I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Fern Cottage Restaurant. I was struck particularly about how efficiently all staff worked so well as a team. My Boe Violet gin was exceptional and I loved the raspberry ice cube in it. What a great way to enjoy the added raspberry flavour without watering down the drink with extra ice cube. The starter of feta olives tzatziki and bread really hit the spot. But the salmon main was absolutely perfect. Just the right size for a perfect meal.
A small restaurant which gave the impression of being in a village hall - one open room with formally arranged tables, so certainly not a place for a romantic meal out or a family celebration with children. A strange ambience. Unfortunately we booked late following a long drive so were given a small single table for two in the oddest of places - in a corridor between the serving hatch and the ladies toilet. We were completely separated from the room where the rest of the diners were eating by a wall of wood panelling. On asking to move the only table we could have was one with an hour's limit as it was booked for later. Shame. So my advice is to book well in advance and request the main room. Having said all that, although the food was not Michelin Star quality, nor did it claim to be, it was excellent. Extremely well presented. perfectly cooked and tasting delicious. Portions were very large so we were relieved that we had shared a starter which was plenty for two. I had intended to order the home made rice pudding for dessert but having eaten the whole of my main had to settle for ice cream. This too was special, a delicious mix of rich coconut and vanilla. The wine list was extensive, though I thought very overpriced. It also has a gin menu. Staff were very efficient and professional. The restaurant has no parking so it is a matter of finding a spot on the main street and walking down. It is accessible for a wheelchair. In all a strange mix of an evening.
Staff were fantastic - welcoming, warm and helpful. The food was good. We had the haggis Bon bons, Adana lamb&beef mince kebab, mushroom linguine and the cheesecake. Cheesecake was amazing but the kebab was a little dry. Overall a lovely experience and would definitely come back.
Excellent restaurant close to The Pitlochry Theatre so handy for a meal before a show. We had both a lunch and a dinner here during our week's stay in Pitlochry. Apparently you need to book in the evenings but not really necessary at lunchtimes. See the photo attached of a Mediterranean Platter which was delicious and varied. There is a separate vegan menu which is quite extensive. My only very slight criticism is that the staff, while very efficient, could perhaps be a little more cheerful.
